The New Phone Thread

  FN2 Type R +MK6 Golf
I got a new Iphone XR a few weeks back and its very nice. My last phone for the last 5-6 yrs was an iphone 6 so this is quite a jump for me and im still getting used to the facial recognition unlock.
Great to watch films on with the larger screen and the apps load really fast compared to my old phone.

Got it in white for £45 a month on vodafone with unlimited everything.

That seems a crap deal taking into consideration the age of the phone and you could get the 11 for the same or less?

Im going to get an iPhone next just for a change from android. Waiting to see what the 12 brings to the table in relation of pricing and lower contracts on the 11.

£45 a month for an XR! Did the guy lube you up? You must have compared prices or something surely? It's a great phone by the way, my daughter's still works fantastic and updated to ios14 today, but 45 a month! I can't even remember when the Xr came out!

Back to the folding phone thing, I just can't see how I can avoid buying one on my upgrade. Multi-tasking is a constant for me, although I'm due a new tablet of somekind as my iPad has given up the ghost I want the convenience of my phone to be a proper work device when needed!
I
Imay however need/hope the fold3 is spen safe, using the surface pro 7 and even a tab S7 recently, I want pen support in my device.

Yeah £45 a month for a 2 year old phone is lunacy. You could get them for about £35 a month, no upfront with unlimited everything back at release. Still a good handset for sure. Mine still runs as new, nice and fast.

Hmmmmm.
I don't know what 3 are like though don't think I've ever been with them.
Been with EE for like 6+ years

I've been with 3 for about 6 years and never had any issues with them.

It really depends on the area you're in as to what network is best for you though.

Has anyone looked into this years apple release? Are they delaying? Not doing? I’m due a new phone, but I’ve never not had a new release iPhone, buying an 11 seems weird.

And also the 5g thing. I know EE will probably have 5g here before 3 but then 10gb probably wouldn't be enough would it? Doesn't 5g use more data?
Keep looking at the plus aswell now 😅
But want to keep below £40 really

Just a bit delayed I think, something about a pandemic...
Expecting an announcement mid October, for an end of Oct release.

It won't necessarily use more data, just that what it does use it will be a lot faster.

I would be going with the deal for 100gb data if you get decent coverage from 3 in your area.

I was sure I was going to stick with the Pixel line of phones after being really impressed with the Pixel 2, but after bad reviews of the Pixel 4 I thought I'd wait for the 4a, but I got fed up of waiting and went for the Oppo Find X2 Neo, really impressed with it so far, £38 a month with 25gb of data, unlimited calls and texts on EE plus a B&O speaker for pre-ordering it.

How you finding it?
Found it for £29 a month, £30 upfront . 25gb on EE

I did hear rumours of an event on 1st Oct, but seems a bit soon now as invites haven't even gone out yet?

One good thing about the pandemic; no leaks!

Yup I'm due an upgrade now. If the iPhone 12 is 650 as planned I may buy outright and go sim onlt at 20 p month. Assuming contract prices will be 50 ish.

Does anyone have any idea when Google are going to release specs and open the orderbook for the 4A 5G?

I'm thinking for the extra £150 over the 4A I already have on order, it might be a better long term proposition. Not for 5G, more for screen size, processor, Android updates etc.

Usually the first week of October isn't it for Google stuff?

Edit: 30th September launch event for both phones.

Sorry, only just seen this. For the price i have found it to be great. Camera is good, not as good as my Pixel 2, but it's ok. Great battery life. Does everything I ask of it without a problem.
I see you have one now, what are your first impressions?

Liking it so far, looks really nice love the colour. It feels good to use it's slightly taller and narrower than my 6T.
Still got some more apps to swap over and set up like banking and things.
Overall I'm impressed. I'll be happy with the monthly price drop too lol
Seems to be just as quick as my 6t despite the lower processor too

How come you waited?.

What's the contract prices out of interest

Waited?

I ordered when they opened the books on 10th September, and deliveries were meant to commence on 2nd October. As far as I'm aware they've only just started shipping UK units.

Contract prices? I have no idea at all, I bought SIM free direct from Google.

Just spoke to ee. The best deal on an iPhone 11 would be 41 a month over 2 years.

When the 12 comes out do we think the price either contract or sim only would drop. Just read it may go to 550 for the 11 outright which I may do and go ee sim only at 20 a month.

Wonder what monthlies they will have on the 5 also. 90hz screen should be nice. Great camera as always with a few trick things. And better video hopefully. Should be a good phone this time around.
