Power Tool Perverts

Is that what you do restore lathes? I have an issue with mine so might throw a question or two in here if that’s ok 😂

hopefully will start stripping mine later, but basically it’s a holbrook lathe and to operate you lift the handle for forward and push it down for reverse.
Now it has a mind of its own and won’t be in the middle so it’s constantly spinning.

not sure what’s on the back of the handle u til I strip it, could be a cam system or some sort of clutch maybe? I can still use it but it’s a bit w**k!

Nah, just tinkering in the garage.

@Beauvais Motorsport looks like he knows what he's doing!

I need some advice from all you perverts, I am looking to get myself an impact wrench (should have bought one years ago) and as much as I love the look of the Milwaukee stuff I already own multiple Makita 18v batteries/chargers so it seems the most sensible(cheapest) way to go.

I have looked at their cheapest offerings but they don’t have a massive Nm rating and a few youtube videos suggest they lack enough grunt and I want it to be powerful enough to do most things on a car. So I have narrowed it down to the two below, I think the “lesser” model DTW300 is going to be plenty enough for what I am looking to do and also it looks to be slightly more compact then the DTW700 which should mean it is more usable to tight spots. The DTW300 is always quite a bit cheaper. £144 vs £225

Any thoughts? Is it really necessary to go for something with 1000Nm of “nut busting torque” for general car maintenance or will 580Nm do me fine?

I have the DTW300Z and used it to strip my R53 down. Not a single bolt it wouldn't undo, even the rear subframe bolts which had never been touched before came straight out without an issue. Have a look on Amazon, that's where I picked mine up from and it was cheaper than the price above.

Does the clutch 'bar' go into the gear box?

I have the same, I decided I didn't want the weight of the larger one all the time.

Which milwaukee impact is decent for manly jobs on cars. I have a m12 which is rated 300nm but struggles to remove wheels 😂😂

Looking at multi tools, is this one any good?

I only have m12 battery tools so am limited to these sorts. This one seems very cheap and I only need it for relatively light duties.

I've heard alot about the non fuel ones wearing out very quickly.

I have the m12 fuel and it is genuinely a proper powerhouse. Looking at the size you wouldn't expect it but it makes light work of alot of stuff

I've also got the M12 Fuel Multi-tool... It's a beast, I used it for cutting through 4" conifer roots last weekend 😅

I've got the fuel one too after planning on buying the non fuel one above. Obviously can't compare as I've only used 1 but I'm very impressed by it

Are these the latest gen drill and impact? I have £350 in nectar points to spend on eBay. I don’t mind adding cash for a better/bigger set. Also in no real rush to pull the trigger if there’s something on the horizon.

Thanks. Found a one key set for £50 more. Is there any reason I shouldn't do that?

Is it a gimmick that's gets in the way or worth having for the sake of it?

@dann2707 you've got some one key?

Bought the milwaukee table saw and a couple 12ah batteries today after my 5yr old de745 110v packed in. Was gonna buy matching stand but the milwaukee effort looks absolute dogshit that wouldn’t last long, so bought a new de7400 to bolt it up to. Might look funny with yellow and red but its a far better stand that i know is durable.

Absolute virgin in this thread, but there’s a heap of knowledge in here and I need help.
My Stanley Fatmax battery charger has died and I’m struggling to locate the exact charger.
So I was hoping a later charger would be compatible with my batteries.
I called Stanley’s helpline and all the lass did was provide me with the part number, which I’d tried to give her, but she demanded the tools model number! And a phone number for a shop in Liverpool, which I will ring tomorrow.
Drill.
