Aftermarket induction kit effects on 182

Not quite the topic you might expect. I'm considering replacing the stock induction system on my 182 with something like a Ktec setup. This isn't to get more power or driveability but to give me a little more space on that side of the engine as I'm fed up of faffing around with all the loose plastic/fibre pipes there. I've got a few questions I hope somebody might be able to help with.

If I fit something like this, does the engine need to be remapped in order for it to run properly/efficiently ? Will it be fine if I don't do that ?

Am I better off getting something like a KTec system or will any of the generic eBay aftermarket alternatives do the same job ?

Does anyone have a KTec system surplus to requirements they'd consider selling ?

It will be fine mate.

Many people including myself have had the ktec one fitted without mapping. Noise is noticeable nice and deeper with a tone change around 5k, but can't say it felt like it made a performance upgrade. If it did, it was very little but the noise probably makes it more of a placebo effect.

The space inside the engine however is much more improved. And makes for easier access to certain things.

If you didn't want to pay the ktec price and didn't want to buy 2nd hand, you can make your own version for a bit cheaper.

If you’re fitting a cone filter type induction kit then you won’t need a map and it’ll make no difference to overall drivability or performance, does make a nice noise though as noted above.

If you’re getting something like a Tessa or RS2 intake then I believe you will need a map.

The fatty induction setup is great and way cheaper than any off the shelf set up. It'll not make it go any faster but it will make it feel faster with the amazing noise it makes. I painted the elbow black and with a battery cover it looked nicely oem.

Looks good. I took a quick look at the Fatty thread but unfortunately all the images and links are gone - I guess it's 10 years old so maybe they've been pulled down since.
