Earth I would guess, there are two straps that need to be removed to move the box and its easy to refit them wrong or forget.
Ok, Cheers SharpyClio do you know where they are so I can point the mechanic in the right direction!

Sorry, that would she’s helped. So there’s one strap in the end of the box that goes to the chassis.

For some reason I had it in my head this attached to the tie strap that’s a bit further back but I was wrong.

The other is on the back of the box, just up from where the near side driveshaft goes into the box. Easy to forget.

Get him to double check all the wiring, its likely that something hasn't been reconnected properly, I did my clutch and gearbox last week and I am trying to remember all the things I disconnected. Some of them wouldn't cause an issue but some might, easiest way is to double check everything again, might even need to disconnect and reconnect things to try and make sure.

Right, hes triple checked the earth straps and everything he says but still the same, he reckons its the immobiliser itself!
Hes at a loss, any ideas anyone?

Ok, so I am getting a checklist of all possible issues in order to solve this and so far I have these.

1. Earths
2. Fuses/Relays
3. Crank Sensor bolt
4. New battery/2nd key fob
5. Broken wire.

Anything I've missed bearing in mind it was ok when it went in to have the new clutch fitted.

It does crank like I said but the immob light is solid.

Put the key in the ignition. Lock it and unlock it on the fob.

Lock it and unlock it on the button in the car.

Turn the key all the way round to just before cranking and leave it there for 5 minutes. Then go back, and do the same again but holding the central locking button.

Then try crank it.

Another mechanic mentioned it could be a broken bit on the flywheel as it needs that bit to start the car, he has been know to be wrong in the past though!

He's obviously done/not done something when the box has been off.

Going to be hard to fix over the internet if he's said he's checked everything.

How come you didn't go to Birchdown like you normally do?
Stupidly thought swapping a clutch over will be fine for someone who basically specialises in them, in hindsight and all that 😢

When my key was dying, I used to have issues starting the car unless I held down the button on the fob while starting the ignition. Sounds a bit wonky but it helped me start it for about 8 months until the key finally died and I had to go to Renault for a new one.

I've tried brand new batteries in both fobs but no nothing.

Be absolute s**t luck if it drove in there for a clutch and now suddenly the uch/key has given up.
Well it didn't drive in but the car started fine but knowing my luck it will be that.

I'll probably get a auto electrician to take a look before I play parts darts

Back again! Would a Renault Clip bring up a code? he's using a Snapon which doesn't bring any codes up.

Its immob related defo if solid red light, earth or fusebox/loom wiring.

If hes pissing about with crank sensors etc hes way off. You need clip to show immob stuff to check key is working.

Check the relays in fusebox have mot been disturbed when removing/refitting battery, as the cover can knock the small relays out of place.

Also not uncommon for these to have a hissy fit on immob when batt off. Id try key in ign for a few mins with ign on.

Failing that i reckon broke wire in loom.

At a guess Df236 listed, even though not currently active is suggesting there is or was a problem with the injection locking relay in the fusebox or other power or ground issue.
