OEM vs Purflux retail oil filter

G'day squad,
Was just doing some browsing online on clio miscellaneous things.
Found out that the OEM oil filter manufacturer (Purflux) also sells a retail version that isn't renault branded or packaged for the clio 2.
OEM part number: 8200768913
Purflux part number: LS932
They seem to be exactly the same from what I can tell. Just without the aforementioned Renault branding or packaging.

Has anyone dealt with/used the LS932 before?
As for me its much easier to source then getting a 'Renault' one sent over to Aus or going through a stealership (dealership).

Attached are images for your reference.

Thanks guys!

As OEM ones are a little steep (especially locally) this definetly is a better alternative if they are the same.

I wouldn't be surprised if they have/had multiple OE suppliers for things like the oil filter.

Someone did cut a few apart once to compare them all Mick maybe? Do a search and should pop up 👍

This is a sample image from Fred. That now lives in Australia.

Left to right
Genuine Renault/Purflux, Ryco (Z608), Repco (local retail automotive brand. Equivilant to your Halfords).
Can see that the genuine has significantly more surface area. With the anti-drainback valve also being over better quality and the base plate being much thicker.

Ryco - the clue is in the name lol (Ripping You C*nts Off). The most overpriced and poor quality stuff around. Plenty of better and cheaper options.

Thread revival.

Recently placed a LS932 on the Clio after an oil change.
Proceeded to cut open the old filter (also a LS932). And holy moly that is a small filter element!
The picture above from Fred is of oil filters I assume are from Meg 3rs's as they are popular in Aus/QLD.
So LS932 is even smaller than that, height wise.

Purflux recommends the LS932 for the Clio 3rs's and Meg 2rs's. While the Meg 3rs get the LS933.
After looking into the LS933. It has the same thread and width, just an increase in 9mm in total height. No technical info is given otherwise.
*Note. From what I can tell. All F4R+T Renault sport models use the same oil pump (150100565R).

Tempted to order in a LS933 to cut it open and compare between the LS932.
If the anti-drain valve, bypass valve and relief spring are the same. Surely there is no harm in installing the LS933 on any model where LS932 is recommended? (As long as it fits).
An extra 9mm can't hurt surely? *My Girlfriend says otherwise*

If anyone has experience with LS933. Please share!
I'll update with my findings nonetheless.

My mate ran Meg 3 filter on his 182, no issues.

I've heard the pressure is better at high rpm on the Meg 3 filters, but could be b****cks.

Sounds logical from a non engineer/mechanic perspective. If the LS932 is a restriction, the larger filter filament LS933 provides should allow greater volume of fluid to flow without the bypass valve to ever needing to open under normal operating conditions.
N/A F4R's obviously rev higher than the turbo varients. So any way to keep the pressure up is never a bad thing.
This is all hyperthetical obviously until testing is performed.
But doubt Renault engineers at the time would have missed this. Especially with the engines use in Clio Cup and Formula Renault 2.0 at the time.

Would be good to hear from someone in the industry/in the know.

Interesting stuff.

I have a few 250 filters, should try them.

I do know on other cars (r5gtt's) a larger filter caused oil pressure loss. Again might be specific to them as the oil pressure is not great overall.

After a bit more reading. I can see that some people are fitting 1.9Dci pumps (PN: 150108716R).
A few retailers, including PMS, state it has '40% more capacity'. Is this a sledge hammer kind of problem solving?
People also delete the oil squirters.

Seems the F4R doesn't have the best oil pressure to start with. Quote from @NorthloopCup in 2019:
'There’s sooooooooo many reasons why the f4r suffers with low oil pressure issues/spinning bearings etc etc. Bearing clearances, oil pump clearances/tolerances, harmonics, s**t flexible cranks, vvt solenoids'

Same sort of thing with the MK1 Valver & Williams as well
