Pattern part shock absorbers

Does anyone have any experience with pattern part front shock absorbers for the 172? Specifically, which ones are actually correct & fit?

Genuine ones are basically unavailable at the minute so they're a no go hence looking for pattern parts. I've found plenty of them but digging deeper into the specs for them they're either saying nothing about the bolt spacing or that they're 52mm & 58mm. On top of that, I've found ones from Sachs, KYB & Bilstein, looked up their part numbers through various websites like ebay autodoc etc and for each part number I'm getting a couple of sites saying yes they absolutely do fit a normal ph2 172 and another couple saying the exact opposite.

What's really annoying is that on Bilstein's site it shows that for their conventional shock absorbers for the Mk2 Clio, they do them in 52mm or 58mm bolt spacing except the B14 coilovers which say they're for 54mm bolt spacing only 🙄

Ah nice, I knew they were for Mk1's just didn't know they carried onto the Mk2's

KYB 633707 = 52mm
KYB 333743 = 58mm

Part numbers from KYB just in case they're useful to anyone else

Took a gamble as I managed to find a single KYB shock on eBay for £22 delivered

Good news is that the info on all the listings for these are wrong, they all say they're 52mm bolt spacing but I can say with absolute certainty they are 54mm 😀

The bad news is that the bolt holes are M12 and the stub axle in the pictures is from a Mk1 Clio which is smaller than what's on a 172 so there's f**k hope of these shocks fitting 🙄

Big bump, but I'm in the process of finding a solution for 172 Mk2 aftermarket shocks.

You're saying the KYBs in your photo had the correct 54mm spacing, but M12 holes rather than M14? I'm assuming then they could be drilled to suit?

Do you happen to know what KYB part number they are?

Drilling the holes wont be of any use either, the 172 stubs are thicker than what's in my pic so they still wont physically fit

Do you happen to know the width of the mk1 knuckles in your pic?
Not off the top of my head. I do know that when fitting 172 brakes & hubs onto a mk1 some people have the stubs machined so they fit the mk1 shocks & I think it's something like 2mm off each side
