Quick opinions needed

I heard the noise from the rear of the car whilst driving home last night. It made a kind of wurring noise and I couldn’t pin down what it was. I’ve jacked the car up to check the suspension and the wheel bearings etc and I found what looked like a bolt in the tyre. I pulled it out and found it’s from a socket set, and it’s not one of mine! I must’ve picked it up either in the works car park or on the road going through Manchester last night. I’ve taken it out and the tyre has deflated. I’ve called the RAC and they are going to come out and I think they can do a plug repair based on where the hole is. My question is this: I have to drive on the motorway to work so I’m guessing that the position that this hole is in means a plug repair will be fine, but would I be best sorting out a new tyre as soon as possible?

This shows the problems you have with this car that doesn’t have a spare so if I do need a new tyre, I will get this one repaired and try and find a rim to keep as a spare. I sold the damaged spare that I got with the car and Matt has had that repaired. I think the main take from this is doing a check on the wheels if you hear anything because you never know what it could be.

Plug it, should be fine.

Mine started going down again so I took it for a replacement tyre. He said nah don't bother wasting the money and they'd put a proper plug in and repair it properly.
It's still going down so I'm going to book it in for a new one. Again.

The RAC have been and they did a temporary repair without removing the wheel. I've just booked it in at the Kwik Fit Fitters & Co shop for a tyre plug.

Glad I renewed my RAC membership and will be on the hunt for some kind of spare....

Yep get a back street garage to sort it.

Even the place I use ummed and ahh’d at a similar puncture. They did it in the end though.

Sure they did alignments back when my mate used to go with his Megane.

A full size spare would be nice, I tend to just keep a plug kit, electric compressor and a can of tyre foam in my cars though, it's enough to get you home 99% of the time

I've only had one proper blow out, luckily that car did have a space saver

But then you’re left with the mess on the inside of the tyre for someone trying to fix it so the best option was to get it done today rather than drive on one of my own repairs.

The foam stuff gets you out of trouble but it writes the tyre off once used.

I just missed out on this wheel (my offer wasn't accepted and a guy near to the seller offered to pop round and pick it up). You live and learn!

I'll keep looking but for now i'm going to buy a repair kit (probably a Slime one) just to get me out of the doodoo should I need it.

I had mine done at Pro tyre on Bolton a couple of weeks ago. They have a 50% discount code so only charged £23.23.
The alignment is spot on now, no more steering wheel wobble.

It's the first time I've used them. I only used them because I couldn't get the tyres I've used for years so went for a different tyre and they were miles cheaper than anywhere else. I'm in Accrington but it was worth my while travelling to Bolton.

Cheers for that, Matt. There is one on eBay now but it's no where near as good as the one I missed out on.

I looked at some reviews of different kits last night and there was nothing between them. I've bought a Slime kit as it is similar to what the RAC fitted to my tyre to get me to Kwik Fit.
