The Power PC Thread [f*ck off consoles]

I think there's loads of discount codes for the LG mate, I've seen people getting it closer to £1k with codes.
Just had confirmation of an exchange for the panel and explicitly asked them if they would be exchanging the screen at the same time as taking my old one away. Dell said yes.

Then just got this email through 😂😂😂

Whole thing is a s**t show. Might just live with it for now...

Absolute jokers 🤣

I think I'm lucky because mine is definitely pretty good.

I did think he'd be pushing it with the budget. I've found a few AMD Ryzen 5's with an RTX 3050, but it's DDR4 ram (16GB).

I'll ask on the games front and if 2nd hand is an option.
There's nothing wrong with DDR4, focus the budget on getting the best GPU instead of wasting it on more expensive RAM. At that budget I'd be looking at used stuff or pre built systems.

I'm seriously considering selling my 5090 for profit, buy a 5080 for 12-18 months and then re-buy a 5090 when (or if) they drop again. Thoughts?

I mainly play Dota and CS so can live fine without a 5090

Yeah man that's the risk because I definitely would want another one. I'm running a 5K2K monitor and games look glorious.

That changes things a bit then. I don’t think there’s gonna be a consumer graphics card in the 5090 class for quite a few years. At least, not one that’s affordable, even by the crazy standards of the 5090 when it came out.

They sell in absolutely tiny numbers, relatively speaking, and the AI focussed data centre cards are way more profitable for Nvidia.

If it makes any difference my 5090 laptop is meant to be a 5070ti equivalent and it's running the aw really nicely! If you wanted me to do any tests or anything for capability so you've got an idea against that screen let me know dude.

I'm absolutely f**king clueless, but happy to help where I can 😂

Why didn’t they just sell it as a 5070ti if that’s all it realistically is? I get they probably cannot fit a full fat 5090 GPU in a laptop but in that case why advertise it as one? Unless I am missing something?

It blows my mind too, I honestly have no idea fully.

I can only assume it's so it doesn't sound "weak" as it's their flagship model. At a guess.

There probably are some more technical differences that us mere mortals don’t get.

Aye sounds about right and so they can charge more for it more like.

Not knocking your purchase btw, as long as it runs well it’s all good 👍
