I think there's loads of discount codes for the LG mate, I've seen people getting it closer to £1k with codes.

Just had confirmation of an exchange for the panel and explicitly asked them if they would be exchanging the screen at the same time as taking my old one away. Dell said yes.

I did think he'd be pushing it with the budget. I've found a few AMD Ryzen 5's with an RTX 3050, but it's DDR4 ram (16GB).

I'll ask on the games front and if 2nd hand is an option.

Wants to go brand new as it's his lad's first proper pc, and he can stretch to a £1000.

Wants it to be future proof for a few years as well. Games won't be "anything serious...."

There's nothing wrong with DDR4, focus the budget on getting the best GPU instead of wasting it on more expensive RAM. At that budget I'd be looking at used stuff or pre built systems.
