How annoying is TomTom!!

  A Fcukin Car
I borrowed my mums TomTom to take Sarah to Coventry airport on Wednesday and my god, I wanted to throw it out of the window. She just wouldn't shut up, she must have told me 4 times in 2 mins to take the next left, I mean I heard you the first time love!!!

And she got 1 thing wrong, she took me round a roundabout, said take the 3rd exit, took that, it went to another roundabout and she said take the 3rd exit again which was back to the first one, she must have changed her mind.

I did like the fact it told me my speed and and I have come to the conclusion my spedo on the car is about 4mph out.

I've got TomTom 5 on my PDA and if the speedo says 80 i'm actually doing about 72mph, depends on the GPS receiver hardware too as to the accuracy.

Dont forget love that the size of your wheels affect your speedo's accuracy too, it was calibrated for 15's with 55 tyres.

If you have any warning signs local to you that display your speed as you approach them then you'll probably find the sign speed matched the gps and not your car's speedo. Driving the car at a consistent speed te gps will be more accurate.

TomTom v5 took me down a road that was 'no access for motorised vehicles'. I didn't noticed the sign and my passengers told me about it and I had to reverse back up the road. Other than that it's been fine for me.

I think you have a renault screen problem. Check the Tomtom data...see how many satellites it is receiving, if its less than 5 you will not get fast enough fixes for your driving speed.

the reno windscreen is a problem for GPS antennae so its not fair to blame the equipment.
Also, check that the person you borrowed it from, hasnt set it up to avoid motorways or something daft like that.

all car/motor vehicles speedos over read so the manufacturer does not get taken to court over speeding fines, my 182 over reads if i set my cruise control at 70, my origin b2 says 70 and my tomtom says 70 but my speedo says about 74

My GlobalSat BT-338 gets about 11 sats through my windscreen :approve:
