172 Cup CV boot Question

  Trophy Turbo :)
Hi Guys.

Car - Clio Sport 172 Cup on a 52 Plate

After servicing our lass.......... well her car ;)

I noticed lots of CV grease from the CV boot all over her lovery littl alloys and the whole of the inner arch, Both CV boots are hanging off the larger side of the boot has no clip on, neither does the small side of the boot.

Just wondered shoudl it have a clip on each side or not. Its nocking liek s**t on full lock so i need to sort it ASAP

Thanks Guys

Andy

Both boots should have metal clips on at both ends. For now pack some grease in them and put some strong plastic cable ties on to stop it coming out, eventually you will need new driveshafts if you dont stop it. In the long run its best to replace the boots/clips as the plastic ties will not last if you plan to go over 100mph or go on a track day. Renault sell driveshalf gaitor kits including the 2 clips, gaitor and grease for £10.

Ive got the part number at home if you need it, not at home atm. The renault metal clips are really crap but you can order some good ones from http://www.cablecraft.co.uk/

By the sounds of it you will need new driveshafts as the cv boots arent avaiable serparetly iirc.

Course you can get the Cv boots on there own, if not itll be the only car ever made not to change them.

Appreciate your help tho.

Ill get soem metal cable ties, the cars only just done 15k and she doesnt go above 80 LOL

Thanks

I have just had to replace one of my drive shafts for the same problem, and there was not a CV joint availale on its own! 100 quid for a driveshaft tho. and now the other side is broken aswell!!

That is what i was told, for my 1.2 there was cv boots available but for my 2.0 16v they said they dont do the cv boots separate and that i would have to buy the whole driveshaft so go swivel lol.
