I bought my replica 90% done, so I spent next to nothing modifying. Happy with the real thing now though :) It would cost more to insure the 1.2 than the real one now!

if you have penty of money with nothing better to spend it on.

erm, wouldn't it be better to spend it on a 172?

if you have the 2k or more for insurance then yeah, people dont remember once you get to our age group and above that when we were 17 you wanted your car looking as sporty as poss with no massive hits to the insurance. people taking modding to different lengths, sure that the guy who spent 70k on a 3.0 conversion in his "pimped out 206" will regret not buying summat quick and standard once he is 30 odd.

i would love a fezza or lambo but insurance etc lol

all i really NEED is a little more torque when carrying large loads like biking stuff or uni etc, other than that 2.0l would just be wasted on how i drive, so 1.2 means sweet fa in fuels costs.

thing to also remember is that it is not just the cost of the car, its also running, ie fuel, services, tyres, etc etc etc . . . . higher specced and priced car, higher costs all round.

not a rant, just a quick non aggravated view of a 20year old coming out of uni with alot of debt :( lol

jamie

and no i wouldnt do it again ;) like immi says

IMO, do it. If it is done properly ie. wings and not botched bumpers (no offence meant Jamie, Immi), the parts will be very easy to re-sell when you wish to put back to standard. Plus, things like Cup spoilers (Trophy/V6 even more so) and splitters will always be worth the money as will CS' official wheel, the Turini.

lol no worries, but not sure whether i would put mine back to standard, think there is enough demand to sell as it is?

Quite possibly, on here or on Piston Heads but I always like to think of the wider market. I always like to consider, if my mum was buying a car, would she be happy to buy this one? Traditionally, members on here like to pay rock bottom for everything and people in the know, know what things are worth. With that in mind, you may limit your resale potential

When I said botched, it wasn't meant as in bad job. I simply meant that you're front bumper is now specific to non-RS wings hence it couldn't be whacked on the 'bay as a replacement job for 172/182's etc. Although that in itself may increase its' value.

I remember seeing the pics of that a while back, sidestrips are a cool idea!!

The extreme's were available in inferno iirc.

Its one of my mates, she lives 100 yards from me lol.
Her dad owns Bodystyle UK in Manchester and made a 182 rep for her, shes 17.
Its an 05 plate dynamique 1.4 thats got :
wings,182 rear bumper + K-tec replica exhaust, front bumper, side skirts, lowered, turinis, cup spoiler, front grille, smoothed bump strip grooves and replaced with 197 bump strips+indicators and it had a carbon fibre splitter + Arespray in Inferno.
That pic is from when she'd just got it, its finished now and looks stunning in the flesh!

liking the cars guys...liking the cars

I think think making a replica is a cool idea when it comes to insurance...you get a car that looks the same as what you want but without the painful payout!

If I had the time I would do it myself too...

Nice one boys :)

he said "if you have plenty of money"

when we were 17 you wanted your car looking as sporty as poss

there's a difference between modding a car to make it look "sporty" and modding it to look like something its not.

what car do you drive and how old are you?

things are alot different when you are finishing uni with 10,000 of debt, do you really think i would have a clio 1.2 of things were different?!!!

dad has a aston v8, rs4 new style cab, and aston db7 vantage volante, mum has an rs6, so if you wanna brag about having a great car at such and such an age, go for it.

im proud of my car, i know it will sell for a lot more than a bob standard clio, ive enjoyed modding it, and driving it so. . . . . . . .

and when was the last time you got 47 mpg ?? :rasp:

oh and p.s, its a hell of alot cleaner than yours ;)
