Air Horn Problem

Horns!!!

My horn has stopped working. Well one of them has, do clios have a double horn as somtimes it sounds as it should do, with two tones of the horn, but now its just sounds like a single horn which sounds high pitched.

Are there any decent horns out there, that I can buy.

i cant remember if it has one of two.
i thought it was just one, and yes the clio is very girlie horn wise.
this pic i took a while back looks like it could be two, but it doesnt really provide a definate answer.

best bet is google "car parts+horns"

The Piaa twin horns are ace (nice and loud also), fitted these to my trophy as it only comes with a single tone horn.

PIAA horns come with either a high or a low tone. The high tone makes people jump....

My horn used to sound mean.... now its a bit girly so i bought another set from halfords and i cant work out how to fit the buggers. Ive fitted exhausts, pads, discs, suspension etc..... but when it come to electrics im usless. The std unit has 3 connections and this has 4. I cant get it to work so now its just sat im my garage feeling sorry for itself. lol

Any tips ?

My horn is kanckered.

I looked at it today and I need a new one, I swapped over power cables onto the fucked one and it didn't work. I might get a air horn are these any good:

Are the AIR horns any good from halfords. How do they work, do they have a little compressor?

The instructions for my Ring "Air Horn" say I have to determine the circuit of my horn, it says it will either be a "Horn Button Connected To Positive" OR "Ground Horn Button"

What type of horn circuit is the clio 182s?

yep i have them fitted..they certainely scare people

my uncle fitted them when i was away so i'll ask him how he fitted them and il get back to you in a min

yeah, but i've not put them next to the old horns yet, I had a look yesterday to see if i could fix the horn I have not but it was knackered. I think it might just look small, if they fit on your clio then I should have no problems really.

Its a relay controlled circuit, so you can just connect straight up.

i think only multi note horns are ie dixie horn

The horns on Clios just have the 1 wire, they are earthed through contact with the horn bracket.

i fitted them facing downwards by the battery, i bolted the compressor to the metal wall by the battery ( if that makes sense )

yes that makes sense. how long did it take and are they too big for where the old horns live?

exact same as mine mate, you want the horns as close to the compressor as possible.

you will need plenty of extra wire and spade connectors too mind

OK, will I need a fuse, as it has a picture of a wire coming of the block connection with one wire going to the left hand pin from the steering wheel, then a wire from the top connection to the top positive terminal on the mini compressor. The on the left hand connection goes to earth, then the bottom connection on the block goes to a 20amp fuse, I guess the 20amp fuse wire then goes to the battery as its got a + sign on the instructions.

Then the negative part of the compressor goes to earth again.

I bought the air horns are they are quality. Very loud.

I fitted it but its bodged, I used the basic audio cable from the battery to the horn, its got a 20amp fuse fitted inline also. The Air horn is much better than the previous horn.
