DIY refurbing starts today

Sanded down the scuffs and kerbing till i'm satisfied... then primer.. in a weeks time, then paint, in a weeks time then lacquer, and then i'll show u the finishing product

Btw, does anyone know what paint color is close to the 182 anthracite standard wheels??

Coz i'm away for 2 weeks during those times.

what i would do is primer in the morning at about 9ish, do a couple coats every half hour, leave till about early evening about 6 - 7ish then do a nice layer of colour. Next morning do another coat and another a few hours later then leave till evening and give it a nice thick a coat of lacquer, leave till morning then do another thick coat and put them back on in the evening

rover gunmetal / peugeot cossack grey are both my favourite colours

just use a hot air gun in between to dry the color , make the laquer tackyish lol
just b careful not to get s**t all over it though(dust)
get a tack rag , i believe halfrauds sell them

I hand sucessfully sanded down and primer 3.. the other one, hmm, taking a while to sand down, due to the massively dented rim edges! lol, i think if i can't do it properly for that one, i'll get a refurbishing company to do that one.

Are you just sanding the edge's down then without any filler or anything? How bad was the kerbing before?

Dont do 2 coats of colour, go to bed and then do 2 more coats of colour.

You shouldnt let the paint fully dry between coats

Well TBH, i bought 1 can of 300ml of paint first, and i needed to buy another to do the last half of the final wheel, primer u'll need 400ml im guessing, and lacquer, 300ml will do

Face and spokes, i will do the whole wheel if needs be, coz i couldn't be arsed to take the wheels off and then put them on again, still the same effect to be honest.. Just alot more cleaning is required

What colour r u spraying urs?.. i'll give a big tip mate, make sure u have vacuum every little bit of dust that is produced when sanding ur alloys mate!! big tip, and also make sure u put newspaper in the bolt seats, the 4 holes where u bolts go. common sense really!

if you got it from halford about £6 per can. Im doing mine satin black as soon as i can borrow some spare wheels, but cant wait any longer lol so if i cant get any wheels going to do 1 at a time with my spare lol

Whitely - Paint cost £3.99 per 300ml can, from my local car and mechanical store...
Primer is around £6 from halfrauds and so is lacquer, but only need one can of lacquer, lasts for ages!! coz u dont really need to put THAT much on it if u know what i mean!

i really want to get mine done this week, so might start now on 1 of them lol, if you can use photoshop , try colourcode your side bump strip same colour are you wheels and you front and rear bumpers colorcoded the same are the body, i recon that would look smart

Thinking of delocking my car, coz i dont even use that bit, just gets in the way, and is slightly rusting! anyone know where i can get it done?.... don't wanna do this on my own, rather get a professional to do it

The only thing thats stoping me from doing it, is what if my battery dies on my key fob?.. how do i lock my car then?
