Formatting harddisk

  Cupra
I have just fitted a new sata hard disk and am formatting it through the disk manager but it is taking ages.

It is a 500GB disk but has been going for nearly an hour and is only half way through. I am doing a standard NTFS format and nothing else on the machine except a bit of web browsing.

Should it take this long?

for a full format - yes, if you doing it through setup and not windows. i did a mates 500gb (when i built his computer) sata and it took f**king agers. i would have done a quick format but seen as it was the first time i thought itd be better to do it thoroughly.

Yeh, these guys are telling the truth. To do a full format in ntsf takes long, I would always do "slow" format just in case.
