Std Sky on HDTV

I've just purchased an LG 32" LCD HDTV and whilst dvd's and my xbox 360 look absolutely fantastic through it...i'm not overly impressed with sky. Usually sky is very clear but it looks a bit hazey on my new tv.

Anyone got any ideas on what may be wrong?

Low bitrate digitally compressed material (Sky SD, Cable SD) does look pretty pants on LCD TV's compared to CRT's. Not much you can do about it unfortunately.

So I take it changing the scart cable to a "better" one wouldn't help?

Is there any other type of cable I could run from a std sky box to an lcd tv?

My 42" samsung plasma downstairs looks brilliant on sky

Yeh sky on my 42" hdtv looks crap compared to my sdtv.

Connecting the scart lead to an RGB enabled socket on the TV and then changing the output on the Sky box from "PAL" to "RGB" will help to a degree.

I've got my current scart going into av1 socket, so I can't just change it from pal to rgb now on the sky setup?

Or do you mean I have to buy some kind of adapter for the scart as an rgb enabled socket won't be the same connection as a normal scart?

nvm, ignore the above I think I get ya. Is there like a vga connection (monitor type connection) on the back of my lcd which says RGB input?

I'd need to run the scart into some adapter then into the rgb input socket? and change the sky settings from pal to rgb?

You could plug the scart socket into the kettle and the Sky box will still allow you to switch between PAL and RGB. The point being unless the scart socket is plugged into an "RGB Enabled" scart socket on the TV changing the output on the Sky box will make F all difference.

What's the TV in question?

Normally there will be an indication/symbol/reference next to the respective scart socket and/or it will be indicated in the manual as well.

Just checked it's already on rgb and if i change it to pal it looks even worse so don't think it's gonna get much better.

get up walk out the room close the door now you will be artifact free


or just move further away your sat too close !!!!
