Oil - Not even on the dip Stick!

Checked my oil this morning just through routine - was a bit alarmed to find it was so low the dipstick doesn't even get wet :S

Would this explain a squeaking sound that I thought was the aux belt?

Which oil do I use? We have some 20w-50 in the garage...any good? Aslong as the car won't f**k up whilst using it I am not bothered as I am selling it in a couple of weeks.

No it was on a flat driveway.

Will 20w-50 damage the engine or make it run noticeably rougher?

20W 50 is for running Tractors.

there's your answer, get down to a local motorfactor, mine sells 5L of 10W40 semi for £10!
