Is it possible to lose the traction control

  Black Gold with cup packs
I have an 02 172ff, feel the traction control is restricting me lower down! Is it possible to get this removed, or as some of the renaults have, get a button added in order to switch it on and off?

The 182 has a switch by the dimmer (to the right of the steering wheel) that switches the ESP off. I'm not sure if the 172 has the same, but that also switches the traction control off.

I'm pretty sure mine does not have a switch to shut it off!
I would like it off though can anyone help!!!!!!!!

My car is 2002 02 and it has ESP/Traction control, and there is a switch buy the dimmer switch.

I think if it's fitted, you have a switch, and if it's not fitted you don't have a switch? I may be wrong though.

Oh cheers mate I wasn't aware! When I rev low down though it feels like there is some sort of compensation to stop the wheels from spinning

I believe 03 52 reg's were the 1st 172's to get traction as standard, unless you could specify it as an extra prior to that it def wont have it

No switch = no TC as said, late 52plate cars had it but before that they didnt. My old 172 was an 02 plate and that did not have TC/ESP it was an option but not standard equipment and there was no switch.

When you start the car everything defaults to on.

If you press the ESP button the light on the dash goes on which means the ESP and Traction control are off. The situations the ESP/TC light on the dash light up are when you've got it switched off, and when its actually doing something. That makes sense doesn't it?***

When you turn the engine off and restart it again everything defaults back to on again. And the answer to your next question is, no, no-one knows how to switch it off permanently. At least nothing that doesn't involve the use of a pair of wire-cutters.

***I guess I must be illogical or not French or something because I would have had the light on the ESP switch indicate whether its on or off, and the light on the dash tell you whether its doing something.

Safer having the light on the dash as it's more obvious that it's off or doing something (ie. you're pushing your luck lol) as I can't see the button when I'm driving along.

My mates golf gttdi uses the same system
