choosing a clio

The only thing I'm unsure of is whether to go for a 172ff or for a 172cup?

Ive looked at the difference in prices and for a similar year and similar mileage, I'd be looking at paying about a grand more for the cup.
Im just curious to whether the cup is that much better to make me want to pay an extra 1k ? Or whether the standard spec172 isnt far off a cup anyway?

I know a lot of people will post comments like the cup is better etc, But my question is, is it £1000 better? lol

cheers in advance for any help :)

I'd go for the full fat cup prices down now in the bad wetaheras no ABS etc scares people off.

I'd never pay more for a Cup the same or les always they were cheaper when new then again people pay extra in the summer for a summer fun car.

The CUp is more raw but realy the full fat would be my choice especaily if your thinking about 1k as you can spend that on mods to the engine and coilovers and make a better gripping car which is just as qucik with the extra weight etc.

you hit the nail on the head there mate. Thats exactly what i was thinking, if ive got an extra grand to play with I could sort out the suspension and gain a bit more power anyway.

FF defo. the micro gains from weight saving with the cup aren't worth sacrificing ABS and comfort. Plus the seats are much much nicer in the FF. Just get a splitter and cup spoiler on a FF and you have the extra looks of the cup and all the comfort and safety of the FF.

The only proper blue clio was the Williams sacrolidge trying to copy it. (although I'll admit it does look good)

Pahh its got silly fly by wire throttle plus its still got enough electrics and computers.

Plus the issue is the cup is £1k more apparently which to me is silly.

I wasn't going to point that out.

 I just meant comfort in luxuries such as climate control and cruise control. I never actually said the seats were more comfortable ;) you have to admit the cup seats do look pony compared to the 172 FF ones

Tbh there is no reason why a cup should cost more than an identical ff 172, the cup cost about 3k less new anyway.

If anything the prices of cups are about the same, or in some cases less than the ff 172.

Ahh right, Im not too fussed on abs but I wouldnt mind having cruise control and I like the seats of the ff's too.

Is there a real noticable difference in speed/power between the two? because I noticed someone above mentioned that there are only micro gains made by the cup.

Theres a car leant or tow upto about 100mph.
Don't forget you just like all things get good and bad onces.

which is nothing really cos it takes any 172 about 6 minutes to reach 100 lol

hmm I see what you mean. Possibly buying a FF and then adding a few engine mods so that it'll match a cup would be a good idea.

That way you get the best of both worlds.

At the end of the day mate 80% of the time you drive your car to get from A to B your stuck in traffic, on motorways etc its better to have the extra's then than be a few meters faster to 100 MPH imo anyway, besides with a grand you can get cup splitter and spoiler and a full exhaust system, filter and decat if you want.

  H&R + Pole Position'd Cup
I'm in exactly the same predicament but the colour of the cup swings it for me. I'll be doing the opposite and adding new seats to my cup. Then again, if you could get the FF in cup blue i'd get a FF.

Don't forget the cup comes with turinis which aren't cheap but I wouldn't pay an extra grand for one!
