starting problem(any thoughts)

im having trouble with my 172 cup,now and then when i go to start the car i turn the key and nothing happens at all,ive changed the starter motor and sprayed all the connections with electrical cleaner im now starting to think it must be a faulty wire or something,just wondered if anyone has had same problem

I had a similar problem with my motor, drove it all the way to work got back to it and it was almost like the battery was dead. Anyway i got the RAC out and thankfully the bloke who came out knew a bit about RS motors and advised me that it was the crank sensor and when they get muck on them or crack it can lead to the car not turning over. Managed to replace my relatively cheaply.

I had this problem a while back it turned out to be that since the fuel tank was so empty all the crappy ex-cess at the bottom was not filtering throw and then mine would start but then if I let it lie for a while it would happen again... thats what I had anyways lol
