supposed to be collecting the f1 today !

Theres a meet on tonight down at Springfield Quay if you fancy poppin over??

I know Lotus recommend running in the Toyota/Yamaha units in for 1000 miles using no more than 4000rpm.
They then get an oil change at 1000 miles, check over, then its all good to go.

If it was me i'd run it in regardless but each to their own and all that.
 
you should see how we ran in a Judd 4.0 V10, bolted it in and then did 5 flying laps, check fluid levels, job done
 
wish i knew earlier :( just heard about the meet gutted . Am doing really well with the running in lol just smoked a cooper s on the motorway !

i honestly wudnt worry abour running it in, just make sure its warmed up before you drive it like u stole it!:evil:
 
I would never thrash a car for the first 1k. It's not just about the engine bedding in, what about suspension, brakes, chassis etc!? My old man used to build engines for a living on cars. He always took it easy for the first 1.k then slowly built the revs over a few hundred. Without question, his cars where the smoothest engined cars I ever went in! We used to test garage demonstrators of his car and they were truly rough as a badgers bum compared to his.

I know lots of people thrash them from knew - just hope I never buy a used car off them :dapprove:

My cars been thrashed from new and I have been told by the stealers its one of better one they have driven. Make of that what you will

yeh dont go there about the mats every time i move the seat to let someone in the rear they push up under the pedals so annoying is there any where i could have f1 ones or where u can get them made to order ?
 
Don't keep the revs under 3k all the time when it's new - you'll end up labouring it. Just drive it normally - try avoid the really high revs for the first hundred miles or so, then cut loose. It's better for the engine these days with modern oils etc. Loosens it up better. Consider an oil change after the first 1000 miles as well, get any running in crap out. Not 100% necessary but doesn't hurt.

Yep theres more LY registered than ultra red going by the figures on 197.com...loosing its exclusivity..
