theres quite a few articles on the net stating it would be around 12-15 pounds a month. but then there are odd few whos worked it to be 35-40 a month

You would also have to take into consideration yer actual pc spec, powersupply, and how yer power settings are defined. Depending on your monitor and how low ect this is left on too.

the only real way i could see to identify how much you use would be to buy a Energy Monitor, and see what yer computer uses over a 24 hr period , then work it out from how much you pay per kw

well i`ve always had at least 1 pc left on since about 1996,

main reason i have it on now is:

im inpatient n cant be arsed to wait for it to load, switching monitor on is soo much quicker
when out work etc, i some times need files off pc so remote desktop
http server is always running, mainly for personal use and close friends

there really are too many variables to get a exact figure without acutally monitoring the system, every thing from how often its in stanby hds off ect cpu in idle etc. as well as attached devices on usb.

why not do one month without , then next month leave it on and see how much power extra youve used.

dont get why ppl need it on wen they are not in unless there downloading lots of stuff

some people do it as they believe that switching it on and off everyday does damage to capacitors and such like. that used to be the case, but its total ballocks now.

Never turn any of my stuff of..

My desktop PC is my terminal server when I'm at work - RDP into it, sorted.. saves me getting laptop out of my bag, haha.

No point ever turning a PC off ;)
