Playback MPEG 2 files on OS X........

......all the links i've been to are charging between $19-$25 for the codec. Is this right? or is there another way round this. Just want to import some MPG files into iDVD.

No.

Try perian, I don't know if that supports MPEG2 though.

Otherwise you'll need the apple codec.....

Failing that use Visualhub, iSquint or similar to convert the file into a format that iDVD can read.
