I thought I'd lost my car keys yesterday and I don't have a spare set. How much would it have cost to sort out getting a new set from renault if I had actually lost them and couldn't get in my car?
think im gonna stick with just one key then, when i brought the key off ebay, i won a bid for about 8pound ish then had the key cut, the key came with a sheet of paper which had programming instructions on, it was something like turn the key in the door x amount of times then do this that etc, didn't work thou..![]()
I believe the keys can't be reprogrammed, so a new one is always needed.
I meant if I had no key to my car, and it's locked....how would they give me a new key without the old one to 'copy' and cut a new one?

They don't need the blade to duplicate. I got a new key and fob by just giving them the VIN numberThey could code a new key to your immobiliser/alarm etc, but the locks would all need changing as the blade wouldn't be available to copy.
Would like to know this as well.I use an aftermarket alarm, would i still have to have the key programmed?
Yes. The key needs to be programmed to disable the immobiliser (this might well be cheaper than getting the plip programmed).Would like to know this as well.I use an aftermarket alarm, would i still have to have the key programmed?
