My handling feels like crap.

Ok dunno if anyone can suggest what is wrong, but my handling feels sloppy & unstable recently. I don't feel safe putting the foot down round any corner, if just feels like its gonna swap ends if I go too fast.
I've had the front end jump out on me a few times now. Twice was on a brand new road surface near where I live & the other was on a roundabout, which I put down to diesel spillage.
But I just can't get any confidence in this car any more, & also it feels a bit rattly sometimes.

I changed all the antiroll bar bushes, which helped for a week or 2, but after that it feels crap again. I would also note that the fronts are knocking more than they have done before when I am turning to full lock, i.e. parking etc.
My car is 02 on 42k. Dunno if the shocks have gone maybe, or could it just be the tyres? Or something else?

Check your tyre pressures - if they're a long way from 33psi front and 30psi rear it could be the cause.

Sounds a lot to me like one or more of your shocks have gone as that's what my 172 was like when one of the rear shocks went. Give them the bounce test and check the struts for leaking oil.

I have 30psi in front & back, but I've always had them at around that pressure & it didn't feel that bad before.

K, I'll check for leaks. But I thought the bounce test didn't work very well on gas shocks.

Normal shocks are oil not gas.
