OT, but is the bodyshop you work at in Birmingham?yeah it is if you just want to paint them mate. i work in a bodyshop too and we also do minor refurbs. but if they are quite badly damaged and need welding up its ussally cheaper to get a new rim. but other than that we just give them a good clean to remove the crap so we can see whats dirt and whats damage. then flat out the scratches with some 180 grit followed by some 320 grit. then primer and the 500 grit over the whole face of the wheel. we then do the edges and inside with grey scotch bright beford cleaning it again. then mask up if it needs it and paint it with the same paint we use on the cars.

with you 100% mate. you can be the best painter in the world but if the prep is crap then the end result be too.Just dont scrimp on the sanding. It does take ages but you get far better results that way.
