Rear light ideas

As some of you may know, I current have smoked rear lights on my car. I quite like them as they go with my black&silver theme, but I have been thinking about trying something new.
Im not a fan of then original lights, and dont have enough money to spend on the FK led ones (white bar across the middle)

So i have thought about taping up the centre strip of the lights and then using white spirit to remove the tint spray from the top and bottom parts.

I reckon these would look a bit more tasteful, what do you lot reckon?

how would you DIY them clear?? unless you buy the FK lights,

just a word of warning,

if its anything like the spray ive got on my lights,
white spirit wont do very much lol,
i think those lights are gone

ebay em tho, might get £50+ if youve done them well!

buy chrome lexasssss lights and then use red tint spray. voila!


alternatively just buy my black lexus lights with clear lenses (for sale section) and then tint the same pattern as above with red??

Or go for the normal lights but tint the whole of the red section black leaving the white circle.

Hmm are you sure white spirit wouldnt work?
dont want to spend even more money on the rears, i think ill probs try the white spirit, then if that doesnt work either leave them as they are or put the originals back on.

if you want to get it off, may sound funny, but try nail varnish remover! the stuff is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!! i got silver hammerite on my black wheels, so used nail varnish remover and got it off so easily! probably your best bet, beats white spirit any day!

something highly acidic

cz that stuff drys basically like paint!

Cheers for the advice and photoshop. I was planning on getting some of the red back into the lights, so probs wont go for the white circle plan, its a good idea tho, original.
Will probs use nail varnish remover from boots as/when i try it.

i have red indecators and pink reverse lights but looks good to me very illegal but not been pulled "yet" but i could always get some green bulb paint which will make them flash orange

cheers bifcaids, looks good, but my car isnt really euro at all, so wouldnt rly suit it, werent u on lenso bsx's or similar? sure i remember it off eu?

Tigger - I already have black alloys, here is how those lights would look on my car (shoddy photoshop tho lol)

So my options seem to be:

Standard (+ silvervisions)
All Black
All Red
Red with Black Strip
Black with white circle

baring in mind, i would prefer to have something a bit original/different

If possible could a mod/admin/whoever does it please make a poll with those options? I would be much obliged

tbh probs am not going to put the standards back on, i know it may be chavier in your opinion, but i quite fancy doing something new/different.

Bare in mind Im 17, lots of my friends have "chavvy" cars (modded corsas etc), its my first car and i dont think a set of smoked rear lights is that chavvy? i mean its not like im rolling with neons and a ironing board on the back.

I get the whole keeping sports standard thing, as theyre very good looking cars, but imo non-sports are just so common that they need to be modded to stand out from every other one on the road.

Im leaning toward the red with black strip atm, though ill probs keep the all black for a while out of laziness

Hi dude. I had my red bit sprayed black, i wouldnt do it pal. Its a reet c**t.
I'd go for the black FK Rear lights tbh

All im gna do to these current lights is tape up certain parts and use nail varnish remover to get rid of the tint spray in certain places (to get either black with white circle or red with black stripe). Then if I have a mare ill fork out for new ones. Just cant decide which one to go forrr

Yea i see what you mean, maybe would work with the black bits on my car tho? youve seen the light tho, your cars a stunner now!

Not sure if i can justify spending £150 on rear lights :dapprove:
its looking like it will be a DIY jobbie, £2.50 for nail varnish remover + some insulation tape = job done

will make the final decision soon, but for now they can stay all black as i quite like em like this.

If i were you purchase some clear Clio rear lights (almost lexarse ones) BUT customise them. I wouldn't mess with your original parts as sometimes they're a pain in the arse to put back to normal (Getting rid of tint spray etc).

Clio Clear rear lights are very cheap. Pick some up to play with

Ive got the standard ones in my room still lol.

My tinted ones (in the pics) i got off ebay for £20 including delivery so thats why i wouldnt really mind if i f**k them up. Thanks though, would do that if i didnt have any spares.

Liking that i think. Looks like a light tint has been used on the whole light but somehow the surround is still quite dark.
Anyone knwo how this was done/ any more pics of it?
