now before anyone starts the not worth it, too much work usual crap, im not thinking about doing this and looking for advice, im just more interested in the technical side of things as it seems quite an interesting conversion for the future.
recently as 172 engines came down in price people have started puting them in valvers for easy power gains and have been building some weapons. so in the future when 197 engines start to come down in price is this going to be a option for a genuine 200bhp?
first issue i can see is gearbox size, what issues is this going to cause?
secondly electrics, how much more complex is the ecu setup in the 197? is standalone going to be the only option or will the 197 management be able to work with the 172 UCH? or even run the 197 engine on 172 management?
thirdly, engine mounts, how similar are the mounting points and the mounts their selfs?
and lastly whats the difference between the F4R in the 197 and the F4R in the 172, i understand the inlet manifold is different along with the exhaust manifold (i beleive it has a cat as part of the manifold), does the 197 have continuous VVT unlike the on/off system in the 172? assuming the bottom end is slightly different due to different gearbox mounting, what else was changed?
