N8 xxx stripped Mk1 Clio - A580

  Alfa 147 GTA
Hi all

I'm not a regular on here, but wanted to put this 'spotted' up.

Coming along the East Lancs about 18:00 today, heading eastbound at the Golborne roundabout I thought I'd take it at speed and power out of it. Just had to time it right for this little mk1 Clio to go past first...

:hail: That's when I noticed it was stripped, had a rollcage, was low and had little wheels. He exited the roundabout at the same point as me and put his foot down. I was at 9/10ths and not gaining on him in second, then he started to pull away slightly!

Great car, Sir. And if it's on here, anyone know what it's running? Please tell me it's not standard.

That's the one. Great car. Reading the build thread you can see he's put a lot of time, effort and money into that car, and it certainly paid off. Sounded good too.

Bah. Anyone lend me £5k to supercharge my car? I might keep up with him then, until we came to a corner anyway! :rasp:

Any pics of yours mate? What bhp are they as standard?

Sure. Standard they are 250bhp and weight a pretty lardy 1300kg. Mine is pretty standard apart from:

Q2 LSD
CSC cat-back exhaust (noise)
Autodelta induction kit (noise)
Uprated brakes from 305mm Brembo's to 330mm Brembo's.

I've had it 15 months and can't see myself changing it for anything else for a long time. I know a few guys who've had the Autodelta 3.75 conversion and/or supercharging. Both mods cost around £5k each, and get around 100bhp for each one. To be honest, if I update anything next it will be the suspension with a Koni FSD/Eibach setup. As a daily driver, 250bhp is enough.

That looks awesome man! Especially in that colour :)

Thanks 'jesus'. Being an Everton fan (that's where I was coming back from when I spotted Jord), I always said I'd never have a red car. But, of the 147's I looked at this was by far the nicest one, and in by far the best condition.

I've done 30k miles in it since I owned it, and in that time only had to spend about £200 over regular maintenance. (Maf sensor died).

It looks spot on if I'm honest! 247bhp or am I talking b****cks?!

How do! Lucky I remembered this and checked the spotted section!

You looked like you were carrying some speed coming upto the roundabout, car looked mean as in the rear view mirror, so thought id give it some ;)

As said....172 engine/172 front track/lots of weight saved, thats about it!

And didn't you just give it some. I knew it was something special when you started to pull away, fair play!

Any idea what power it's putting out? Hope to see you around again.

Id like to think 170bhp ish, but it only ways a tad over 800kg, so around 210-215bhp/per tonne

That, my friend, is a stunning example. I looked at these/still am looking but not sure on the handling. I think I prefer the R32/A3 3.2 for that, but looks wise a mate's Brera in that colour, coupled with yours, beats them hands down.

Oh and Jord's car is just epic!

Sounds about right judging by it's performance, as mine is probably around 185bhp/tonne. :approve:

sounds like one for me to have some fun with lol, foget jords hes like 230bhp/tonne lol...

its a nippy clio id give him that... actually adamandertoins car is nippy so jords car... well insane lol

Give him time, first come the cams, then come the TBs, then comes the S/C ;)

Cams have been sat in the garage for months :dapprove: Been thinking about selling them in recent weeks, but il never get them as cheap as I did from Tooney again, let alone Schricks.

Will get them in with an ECU over winter, run it for the summer then think It will be time to move onto a new project!

Thanks JD, very kind of you. I do love it.

If you're thinking of one or an R32/A3 then I'd suggest you drive them all first. I've driven the R32 (latest one) and I have to say I was disappointed, it felt heavy and a bit clinical. Both the R32 and the A3 will be a good 100kgs heavier than the Alfa, and for me the 4WD drivetrain weight/transmission losses deficit outweighs any benefits. Especially if you get a GTA with the Q2 LSD, or have one retro-fitted for £500.

nice alfa btw mate!!

Cheers Jamie!
