Is my mixture too lean

  Icy berg 172 & 172 Cup
Hi Guys sorry if this is in the wrong section, i am hoping to tap into your knowledge and this maybe relevant to clios running a similar set up

Firstly I will give you the spec
pUG 205 alloy block mi16 on jenvey throttle bodies with ermerald management FSE power boost valve, stainless exhaust , tbular manifold (not sure if standard although has got re-angling plate). I bought the car in its current form therefore do not know much about how its all set up .

The car passed its MOT on friday with flying colours I have been driving it over the weekend and all is good.

When the emmissions test was done with for the mot the results were as follows

CO 0.64 Limit <3.50
HC 34 limit <1200

I was showing the results to a good friend of mine who suggested it was running very lean i have noticed although the car is very quick the power does seem a bit lathergic in its delivery . the exhaust is alos leaking a bit too i think between manifold and centre section but could possible be at the manifold what effect would this have?
one other thing to mention the car was peviously fitted with Nitrous which had the jets fitted to the itb trumpets i have removed the jets now but havent managed to replace the trumpets so they all have a 12mm hole in them will this have an effect on performace also.

all help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Paul

Does seem a bit thin. Best thing you can do is get the AFR checked, if its feeling flat chances are you have no ign timing dialled in. Hard load on a n/a engine should be around 12.5-12.9 idle at 14.7-14.9.

very good crazycup.... ;-)

being on managment it should be able to run correctly

as said get in on a wideband meter and see what its doing

if your not sure, get it to a rollers to get the mapping checked and not just on the top line... the whole map........... a decent mapper will be able to tell you whats wrong and right.

if i get rid of the fse what would i use instead? do they have a pressure reg as standard.

How would I go about getting the AFR chaecked , do in need to go for a complete mapping session? when you say dial in ignition timing can you expand ?

i am trying to learn all of this so quickly,

Thanks for your help

also if the exhaust is blowing ever so slightly from somewhere priro to the lamda sensor would that effect the fueling ?

Book in with a reputable rolling road and ask for it to be checked. AFR stands for air fuel ratio.
(how many parts air, to how many parts fuel.) Like 3 eggs to every 300grm's of flour when making pancakes lol

just replace it with a 3.5bar pressure reg (call us if you cant find one)

but be warned, if you change the FPR and it changes the fuel pressure you WILL need a remap.

to check AFR you dont need to get it mapped, however I would go with the idea of getting it mapped... charged by the hour if it doesnt need anything it wont cost much

Call in and see Northhampton Motorsport, ask for Troy... say Andy sent you

they will sort it for you

I'd just go to Emerald being that close, out the back of Thetford so about an hours drive for you. And they'll know the product better than anyone

also there is wire under the dash reading 'water temp' it isnt connected to any thing I am wondering if it is meant to be the collant sensor wire for the emerald if it is and wasnt connected what king of effect would that have ?

cure the exhaust leak first - if its blowing/leaking this effects the mot emissions test - gives you low co/hc but the lambda is high (weak) ;)

then go from there
