Project S13

i think you are going the wrong way tbh, i would go 1/2jz or rb i dont think this is a good plan, but its your car :)

I want to get away from turbo however I want some power. Also, instant torque ftw. An RB would be an ok conversion but it would still be a turbo so it will still theoretically be as temperamental as the CA just with more expensive replacement parts. The same goes for a 1/2JZ. With a V8 its nice and simple with lots of power and buckets of torque. An all ally V8 will probably weigh less than an RB25/26 also.

I've not got a garage to do it in no, its either going to go to DCMS who have been recommended a few times on SXOC or it'll be going to Chorley Street Garage as they are pretty cheap and I trust them.

I recomend "Steath motorsport" and the main man "Buffy" Mike Emery, He is very well known throughout the world of SXOC and really knows his stuff, particulary good at engine conversions, done loads of RB26 conversions into S13,S14 and S15 200sx etc, the best around.

The only bad point is that he is located in South wales, fair distance from you.

He did most of the work to My S14a...

buffy did work on my 200 well we did it together, but there seems to be some drama surrounding him atm :(

i've heard some stuff. Most likely the normal SXOC keyboard warrioring. Mike's a top bloke.

agree he went out his way to help me :) when i was down at his unit we heard a massive bang, everyone in the area went out side to see what it was, then we heard sirens, turned out there was a duck pond near by some guy had gone down, fed the ducks and blew his head off with a shotgun.

im not 100% sure what happened but something to do with someone paying him to do some work and him not doing it or something i dunno sxoc is full of hunts for people, i think the ones who have used mike know how good he is and anything that has gone wrong would of had a serious reason behind it.

I agree, I have nothing but praise for him :approve:

The escort looks nice ;) I'm not a huge fan of SXOC, it seems that if you dont know your car inside and out then your not good enough to be on there or something heh, rules me out completely

I want to get away from turbo however I want some power. QUOTE]

a 200sx with no turbo is like going down on your sister.....

it may feel the same... but its just not right. ;)

If you get a company to do a conv for you it will cost ££££. Why not get the CA18 rebuilt,at the end of the day there bulitproof with a good oil pump and the same as a skyline block just missing a few holes ;)

Then stage 3 300+bhp you'll be laughing! :D

standard engine, 3 turbos so far haha.

sounds like you've not bought a good one yet ;)

Have you checked your oil lines arn't blocked! the returns sometimes block which wouldnt help.

You could drop a sr20det in yourself for not allot of money.. say £1300

but the ca is still a good engine.

Mine was running Stage 3a spec with a GT28rs turbo, it was a fantastic blower which spooled up quickly but didnt seem to run out of puff at all.

Stage 3 is a nice spec for the road I felt, usuable power, it was producing 347 bhp on mine.

I've considered keeping the CA but to make me trust it I want it rebuilt with braided feeds for the turbo and a new turbo pref on roller bearings to try and keep the lag down. With all that its not a cheap job and for similar money I may be able to get a V8 producing similar power but in a lazier/more reliable manner aswell as without any lag. win.

dude, if your getting a company to fit a v8 its gonna cost you a fortune! a custom exhaust will cost a bomb to start.

You could easily fit a SR20 lump in there in a matter of days with great reliability.

whats the point in getting someone elso to do the conv... save some money and learn some stuff along the way.

Flan

The money to buy what I'd need to do the conversion wont be too far behind the labour costs for the conversion though surely? I'd need all kinds of new stuff at the moment I have a socket set, a couple of screw drivers and a few hammers from small to lump :D

I need to find out if the engine is gonna ever work 1st Jamie.

I'm gonna stock up some parts over the next month or so, anything I can fix I will and will update and then I'm gonna send it to DCMS I think, or another specialist to try and find the cause of the engine problems. I think a big part of it is the timing is miles out but there are more serious problems with it that I'll never work out on my own..

I'll update with the wee bits and pieces I'm doing at the moment but like I said it'll be late summer before I get chance to have a proper go at it, I need as much money as I can save for a trip too visit family and Canada this year :)

1 day I want a new engine, but it'll cost a few quid even if I attempt it myself!

Those Rota's are long gone, but I would love a new set..

Of course mate, team member for life haha.

I'm glad its back on the road, its going to a specialist on Friday to get the timing and the boost set up and a decent check over then its back to doing everything wrong and making me and others smile :D
