clio 1.2 16v cutting out

2001 pre facelift "sport" model..

If you leave it overnight and normally when raining if you try to start it..fires up but then the electrical fault warning light comes on for about 30 seconds and it wont rev over 2000rpm (sometimes dies)

after the 30 seconds everything returns to normal and shes fine all day?

Any ideas?

Check the loom on the back of the engine.

had a look at that, the cover is missing which rubs on the wires.

Maybe there cut and have been taped over..hmmm.

It doesn't, you need to wind a the locking wheel at the back to unclip it.

Sounds like its going in to limp mode! So many things it could be but according to the comp its something to do wih the throttle pedal cables or something
