Just Bought My Clio And Want To Know What This GDI Perf Tuning Box Is?

Hi all,
Hope someone can help me out.
Under the bonnet, this side of the inlet, theres a box with wires coming from it but cant see where they go to and its stamped GDI Performance Tuning. Was hoping someone could tell me what this is?

SMT6 Piggyback "ECU"

IMO get it removed ASAP, you'll have to sort the wiring out to get it running on the stock ECU fully, chances are the car might have cams and has been mapped on the SMT6.

Danny where are you based? You'll want to get it to a local specialist to get it checked over, the SMT6 removed and remapped accordingly.

gdi are now joined with k-tec, well now work for k-tec. get on the phone n have a word with them andy will be able to tell you exactly what it is

Because its not a great way to map a car and would be better off mapped on standard ECU imo.

They worked ok at the time when access to the ecu was almost non existent. Better ways to do it now. Piggy back ecu still works fine on non learning ecus though.
