Which SS Exhaust?

  Civic Type R
Hi

I know this has been covered many times before, and I have used the search function but still cant decide. I had decided on a Yozza, but after reading more and more about the loudness of them I have been a little put off.

On my previous car I had a miltek with a decat, but was never really happy with the fitment, without the decat it was too quiet, but with the decta just about right for me. How does the Yozza / KTR Supersport / RS 192 compare with the likes of the miltek? I dont want it to be to loud, am nearly 30 , but do like quite a nice deep note, the sound of the decatted miltek was probably what I would describe as perfect.

When I had my miltek fitted, the cat was completely shot, hence why I had the decat, and am worried if I buy the yozza, the same may happen, leaving me with a very loud decatted yozza lol ( think replacements cats are quite expensive).

The Yozza's aren't available until sometime in Feb I dont think, and my current exhaust is just about hanging on lol.

Any advice would be appreciated, need to get one ordered ASAP really.

Thanks

Wayne

I've just ordered a Piper cat back, I'll let you know how I get one, was in the same predicament as yourself!

Which one did you have Fubar? Sport or supersport? How noisey was it?

De-cat piper system isn't to loud but give a nice roar when under load

Yeah been looking at the piper too, I will hopefully be keeping the cat, but just incase it has to go!! lol

Yeah soooo much choice lol, obviously everyone wants something different. Read something about the olive joint being removed on the cat to fit the piper? Does this require welding etc ?

Fred is taking orders for the yozzas now, they are available. Speak to him about it.

I'm not too sure, I've ordered it from Revolution and they're fitting it, best phone them to check!

Maybe someone can confirm this, it kind of defeats the object of buying a stainless system though to be honest!

Just had it confirmed from Piper, the exhaust has to be cut between the cat/centre pipe join just before the centre box and sleeved, I've managed to get hold of this image...

No it doesn't it comes with a olive joint separate which slots into the centre section and is clamped then you clamp the joint to the cat.

Ah cool, I take it you have one fitted to your car?

The guy I spoke to at Piper seemed to have little knowledge of the 182 system...

There doesnt really seem to be many reviews earlier, I was also told it had to be cut, which for me is a major factor, as I want to fit it myself.

Iirc the standard exhaust doesn't have to be cut to remove, just lower the beam.

Standard doesn't have to be cut, but i would if i was chucking it away/it's buggered as it's easier than taking rear bumpers off dropping beams etc.

BTB, or yozza.

BTB? The only thing that worries me about the Yozza is if I HAVE to decat it, maybe I just had a duff CAT before, but when the standard exhaust came off it just fell apart. at the time I tried to source another CAT but they were more than the Exhaust!!

Over on cliotrophy everyone raves about the RS192, but not sure if its too quiet..

Yeah I've got one fitted. Easiest exhaust I've ever fitted so straightforward. Old exhaust doesn't need cut to come off and the beam stays where it is.

I'm running mines with a de-cat but you can see the olive joint just slots into the centre section and can then be clamped to the mani

I'm happy with the Scorpion I fitted last week, its nice and throaty under full throttle but not too loud when you are taking it easy. I didnt buy the RS192 system though, I believe I have the "Imola" one with a single backbox?

Is your cat in working condition on the car now? If so just buy a Yozza.

Looks to be intact yes, although my old one did, then it cracked around the olive joint when we took the standard exhaust off. The problem is I have 1k to spend on ther car, but £220 wheel refurb, £300 tyres. Only leaves 480 for the exhaust, so if my CAT breaks I can't afford a decat pipe ... but not a CAT. Apparently Yozza's are very very loud with decat?

Yeah with decat they're quite loud, but if your careful when removing the old exhaust you shouldn't have a problem with the cat so you can easily go for the cat back system. I've never heard of it cracking before!

try youtube might get an idea off there how loud they are.

Yeah, its youtube thats put me off the yozza to be honest, quite a few on there that sound waaayy too loud. Even when then miltek was decatted it didnt sound too loud. The fit though, was terrible, or I would just pruchase another.
