Best Cams which are...

  Golf GTD Mk7
....drivable on standard management/map and won't cause damage. Bodies are going on in a few months, but with the rocker removed ATM, it makes sense to remove standard cams.I don't want to waste money on mapping considering I'll be getting it done again when ATs are fitted.
What is the most peaky I can go? Or are 428s the only option. I really wanted 421s but I know the car won't run on standard mapping.

When I had the 428's fitted the car ran fine, was v lumpy and hesitant at low revs but liveable.

421's won't run very well at all on standard management unmapped. I'd be surprised if it managed to hold idle properly until correctly mapped.

428s will cause u no probs, just don't spank it!

Although saying all that I regret not putting 421's in mine as they would have been worth another 3 odd Bhp

Yeah I thought 421s would cause issues on idle. I should just remove the acoustic pipe to raise the idle ;)

If you had a PH-1 172, with cable throttle 421's would be fine... you could just raise the idle slightly ;)

But not sure what they would run like on a PH-2 1*2?

or drill a very small hole in the throttle plate ;)

Would that genuinely make them ok to use until getting correct mapping etc done when the bodies are attached? Or could I do as mentioned and put a small hole in the biro end thats plugging my acoustic pipe :) ps. How much you want for them ;)
