Changing back to standard suspension - Question

Hey Friends

I bought my (latest) 172 cup a while back which came with raceland coilovers (which raise my insurance and IMO do nothing good for the handling.)

Anyway theres now a fair amount of noise coming from one of the struts (I think) so I'm going to do what I've been thinking about since buying the car and change back to the standard suspension.

Question is - is 172/182 cup suspension the same? I now I read something about it ages ago but can't find an answer through search :S

No. They are different, 182's have a different bolt spacing to where they mate to the hub at 60mm. 172's are 54mm

182 cup and 182 are not the same
182, 172, and 172 cup all the same

The compression in the dampers is different to each aswell IIRC.

Try and source 172 Cup original suspension and save yourself any hassle!

Taken from West Renault price thread:

172 cup front shocks - 8200681108 - £50.53
172 cup rear shocks - 8200662257 - £44.38

You'd need springs to go with them also.

so i need 172 or 182 cup suspension, il aim for 172 cup to be 100 percent but im looking for used so its handy to know the options :cheers:

No, which part of my reply did you not read?

182 cup suspension has 60mm bolt spacing, 172 Cup has 54mm......

172 cup springs have yellow/white markings.

I read it all mate but then I read the others? So I should only go for 172 cup, because non cup has a different damping rate and 182 cup won't fit?
