gearbox oil

ive been though loads of threads looking for the right gearbox oil and there's loads of conflicting answers about gl4, gl5 and which elf oil is right

and i was wondering if this one is fine to use

How much would you need just out of interest? Also a 172 cup would take the same GL5?

3 litres, 3.4 litres if the box is dry iirc

I take it once you have drained the 'box, just refill until it comes back out? Come to think of it I'm sure I've seen a guide somewhere.

you got it mate, car on level ground oil to the bottom of the threaded hole(stops dripping out) on front of the box, there is a guide somwhere

It is pretty straight forward tbh, I normally use a funnel with a length of tube on it down to the hole on the front.

On another note, you have to do an involuntary gearbox oil change if you replace the reverse light sensor! That is if you prefer to do things properly rather than refill the gearbox with the same oil you have just drained out!
