CamBELT..

Hi,

Just wanting to check, I was looking to buy a DCi Dynamic S (New Shape) today. It's a 55 Plate with 78000 Miles on it.

The dealer told me, the cambelt hasn't been changed, and doesn't need to be until it hits 100000 miles and there is no year limit as such.
He also said it's a chain not a belt.

This didn't sound right to me.. I asked if I could have a poke in the engine and he said he would need a deposit first, so obviously I said good bye and walked away, something wasn't right.

I always thought 72000 or 5 years for the camBELT?

Am I just silly? Or were they talking out of their backside?


As a side note, it was the first one I have driven, and the gear box felt awfully loose and clunky?

He's clueless or telling lies, or maybe both.

should have been done at 72k/5yrs. It's 100% a belt and not a chain

That's what I thought, glad I walked away now, god knows what else he didn't know or wasn't telling me!
