Great write up mate, and genuine admiration to your blase' attitude to just fixing stuff as you went along as well

Yeah I think with these older cars you have to be prepared for the odd little niggle and hence to be prepared to fix it on the go if you want to still throw it around a racetrack.

Good write up Chip, makes me want to get back over there - long time since my first and only trips....92-93 lol.

Can you put a list of the bits\spares you carried (or wish you carried), also what app's on your laptop to code read.

Thinking I need to be better prepared when racing as I take next to nothing and would be quite stuck if the inevitable happens...

By no means a definitive list but this is what we were carrying:
Starter motor
Both front hubs (with wheel bearings fitted ready to go)
Coilpack
Plugs
Random pipes and hose clips
Throttle body
Brake pads
All fluids
Various bolts
Stiff wire (useful for tieing up and exhast if you need to)

In addition next time we will be taking injectors now too, lol

We use a modified RS Tuner (that takes a wideband input into it - but thats for mapping related datalogging only so a normal one would do most people) for datalogging and fault code reading/clearing

Fantastic write up, takes me back to my time at Spa and the Ring, just love those two circuits. If there is a heaven it will consist of the Ring during the week and Spa at weekends!&nbsp;<br><br>Thanks for sharing, sounds like a fab trip. :)

Cracking collection of cars you guys had, didn't know the corrado was that power. Got a build thread anywhere for it?

Epic read Chip, it's bad to be jealous but truely sounds like the perfect short break to me!

I badly want to do a trip like that but equally know that will be me hooked and its an expensive hobby!

Yeah the costs do add up. Insurance for the trip for example was 240, but not having it could have been 100k dearer. Lol.

Oh yeah definitely does, and i'd rather not do it "on the cheap" as that can be asking for trouble!

Brilliant write up indeed. Makes me want to do it in mine but need to see what the reliability is going to be like to be confident enough to do that many miles and track days.

Great read, just about managed to get to the end.
Sounded last night that it was a good trip, some of the photos are fantastic as well.
Gotta add one of these trips to the list of things to do before you die!

Chip, only just spotted this after one of the lads we were with (the lad driving the focus for me) mentioned he spotted your write up on PF.
good to see you again after such a long time, glad you got the Exhaust sorted in the end.
as we chatted at Pinochio's, I was shocked that it was 3 years back that we all went over to the ring with Dave Moss and Ian Gerrard etc, time flies past!!

on topic, nice write up as always.
catch up again soon ;)

This is a good crash out list...Iv ordered a set of injectors too, also going down the same route...plugs, coils, leads etc etc. I always take spare pads and discs, but that should be mandatory right for any serious track day nut?

p.s username change ;) no more weird Japanese name

Yeah, its a holiday where you need to be prepared to spend a bit TBH, and also to have some in reserve just in case.

Brilliant write up indeed. Makes me want to do it in mine but need to see what the reliability is going to be like to be confident enough to do that many miles and track days.

Reliability is definitely a big issue when you are that far from home. SO worth it though, its just an epic way to spend a long weekend!

Great read, just about managed to get to the end.

Yeah man, and your car would be perfect for it.

Ultimately there can always be something that goes wrong which you havent thought of, but at least if you cover the obvious it makes it a bit less likely to happen.

Saw your mates there, ricard with the 350z had a mate of mine called dan as his passenger, it's a small world.
You have to come too next year!
I think one of the guys got a couple of photos as you were just passing through the ticket barrier (sadly no "action" shots!)

The 350z belongs to Chris (Ricard was along as a passenger on this trip) and yeah, it's a small world. I don't know Dan as well as the other guys but he's a sound bloke and always good for a laugh! Talking of the 350z, it had a few hiccups on the way (including ripping off the rear bumper/spoiler and diffuse as they left the ferry and a small explosion of fluids as he hit 170mph on the Autobahn!!!!) But all in it was a good trip from what I see and hear.

I'm planning on being there next year whether as a driver or passenger. We might make it into a full-on Euro-Trip as well ensuring the 'Ring is on the journey homewards... just in case! :D

Ah sorry about getting their names the wrong way round, I should have just said "the tall one" lol

You should definately come along Sharky, its always an epic holiday, although obviously you do need to have quite a lot of confidence in your car in the first place to enjoy it or its just a stress.

LOL yeah saw they were upset with Clio Jet but I wonder who as during the 2 days and I know of min 4 different people driving it me being one one the Tuesday afternoon, maybe they are upset with Nick the owner as he drives the car on its limit where as the rest of us did not as it is not our car, he let me drive his 911 turbo as well and that was impressive
