The next step is to get the car running again, and fit..

New cambelt/ aux belt
438 cams
Air con removal.

Then the roll cage. I keep on changing on what cage to get.

Fletch..... are they the flush fitting catches that are supposed to be secured under the bonnet? Hard to explain and i cant really see in the pic but i think they are.

Yep. Pins under the bonnet in the front slam panel.

Mine and Sams are flush on the top. Are your fixing holes lower than the actuall catch ? (creating a lip)

Lol..Bloody dremel was struggling. I couldn't find the spanner for the 4" disc cutter FFS!

actually ideal for these kind of jobs, although the blades are exepnsive, it made light work of chopping bits off the MX to fit my cage

True.. But do you think a non flush aerocatch would look better?

The only difference is the bolts are flush with the plastic so I don't see point for sake of 2mm.

Yeah am good, keeping busy. bought a ph1 last week so going to start attending some trackdays next year once its ready

sounds good to me, you thinking custom cages?

Fletch, Aldi are doing one for 30quid from next thursday in all honesty it might be pisshh but I bought a 50quid corded one from builders merchants and that eats through anything i've tried so far might be worth a shot and once you have one I bet you'll use it on pretty much anything

Thanks for the heads up mate. I'll have a look.

I had another go at tidying up the mess the dremel made of the bonnet :dapprove:with a 4" disc cutter it looks so much better. I'll get some updated pics up.

After having a quick go in Pete's ph1 172 on Wednesday made me realise how much I my little rattle box.

I am now temped to not bother with updated cams and just get the cambelt/ aux belt changed and air con delete and just get it back on the road.

I had a look at the current subframes. I reckon It'll be just over 2" lower!

I really should get that other set of aerocatches order ASAP too.

Order them up mate, we could do the seat and the catches in one day i reckon.

Get Mike Woodford to do the cambelt and fit a set of 197 cams. That would be the best compromise as it seems a waste not doing the cams when you've got the perfect opportunity.
