Do you need an oil filter tool?

If you can't turn by hand, wrap some sand paper around the filter and try again, usually works for me;)

I'm about to go mental, why won't this undo.

Is there even a nut in that one? There isn't on mine, just make sure to loosen the 10mm bolts that hold the upper inlet manifold on, they hold the fuel rail guard on at the same time;)

HELP - stripped thread, best fix??

If helicoil kits aren't easily available locally tomorrow, I presume option 1 is the next best bet?

HELP - stripped thread, best fix??

Took the upper engine mount off earlier and, most likely through my own fault, stripped the thread on one of the bolt holes in the upper cam cover when refitting as I didn't pull the engine forward enough. Have the other 2 bolts holding it up overnight until I head to the local engineering...

    Carbon canister

What does it do? And more importantly, do I need it? Took most of my aircon, bar the compressor tonight, and noticed the carbon canister while the bumper was off...can I get rid of it before putting the bumper back on in the morning?

    Project 666

Another order came from k-tec a week or two ago.. CL RC5+ pads for front and rear, with new OEM rear discs and bearings, and a centre and rear exhaust hanger. Rear discs were as good as welded on, but sorted them with an angle grinder:D Bit of a last minute decision, but done another...

    Removing aircon from a ph1 172

My bad, I assumed when it said crank pulley that it was the cambelt crank pulley. Thanks for the link, I'll read up on it now:)

    Removing aircon from a ph1 172

That requires the cambelt to be changed at the same time though? Mine was done only 18k miles ago, so don't want to do it any time soon.

    Removing aircon from a ph1 172

I wish to remove my aircon pump, but keep my PAS pump, without being bent over by renault for brand new 172 cup brackets and an alternator. I have been searching high and low for a reasonably priced 172 cup aux setup but not having much luck, and I know you can rid the car of aircon using...

Fitted coilovers, now knocking from rear?

Fitted a set of coilovers recently, and ever sice I put them on the car, I get a knocking noise from the rear of the car when the springs compress after a dip or bump in the road. The rears are about halfway on the height adjusting collars, nowhere near decked. Have been under the car a number...

upper gearbox mount, is it just me?

You're not trying hard enough:D Get a big breaker bar or put a big bar over the end of your ratchet to make your lever bigger, and one swift yank to free it of the rubber should let you loosen it. Alternatively get a lend of an impact wrench:D

    Project 666

Haven't updated this in a while... Got the camber and alignment set, it was miles out and probably not safe to drive... The coilovers seem to have settled a bit, it's sitting nicely now. Also got my hands on the centrecaps for the turini's and a cup towing eye...

    best dampers for Eibach Sportlines?

New OEM dampers are perfect, had this setup on both my 172's, which were both tracked, and can't fault it.

upper gearbox mount, is it just me?

Can't say I've experienced that with either of the two I've done, although our cars aren't subject to the same level of salt on the roads as yours are
