Its a disgrace and defiles the "Cup" ethos. The 182 "Cup Pack" started the rot IMHO. Renault could have been onto a whole new successful marketing niche if theyd developed the Cup concept and kept it pure. They could do a stripped out, lower wider Megane 225 Cup for example and so on.

I waited the best part of 10 years for a worthy 205 replacemnt to come out and the 172 Cup is definetely it. Go for it.
Cup requires more speed to extract the same fun though as it has more grip and neeeds more provocation to get it sliding. So overall I dont slide every corner like i used to...
I expect this has been done before so apologies in advance, but I d like a definitive answer. I assume they simply lift the 172Cup sups. bits and put them on the 182?
My Cup just gets better and better with the miles, the engine really needs some mileage to loosen up. No reliability or build issues at all.
The car confirms my opinion that the hot hatch genre is the simply the best of all car types.
