Sorry to hear you're going through all of that. Hopefully there is light at the end of the tunnel now though.

UPDATE:

Not really much of one really. The car is being used/kept up-together but so far has done no trackday's this year.

I have purposely not booked any trackdays as I am trying to be a little careful with money at the moment until I am totally stable. It means just enjoying the car a few times a month out and about, little drives, some small events etc. It also now has a fresh MOT.

Hopefully a trackday before the year is out.

Good to see you're doing a bit better! You should bring it along to Anglesey for Cliosport festival in August! Would be great to have another Phase 1 on track with me, even if yours is a lot faster than mine

Definitely come to CSF if you can, even if you don't track it. Would love to see it up close 👍

It would have been great to come to CSF, a bloody long way to drive it up there, but some fun roads none the less...
However I have my son that weekend so there is no chance I will be doing that.

Well pretty much as the last really, which was not much.
The car is being used/kept up-together but did not do any trackday's this year.
Continuing to be careful with money at the moment until I am totally stable.

I have been enjoying the car a few times a month when the weather has played ball, little drives, some small events etc.

I was going to sorn it in October but obviously missed that boat so may as well do it at the end of November, hopefully a few more drives/events this month.

@Nafoff seen you in Clevedon this morning. Car looked good in the sun👍

Thank you for your kind words. I was taking a slightly longer way back home (Nailsea) after attending the Queens Square meet in Easter Compton.

I attended that first thing trying to make the most of this months tax before the car is potentially sorn at the end of the month.
The Queens Square meets have a good standard of car, super cars, nice builds etc etc but I just lacked a fair bit of interest... wondering if I am loosing the love.

UPDATE:

Taxed the clio this weekend and got it out for its first drive of the year. Headed over to Baffle Haus in Wales, a decent shakedown distance for the car.
Headed over with a mate on his bike.

11 miles… 😂😂

Mate I’m not doing any this year. Other than Anglesey at the end of July for CSF. I may (?!) squeeze another one in afterwards, and will shout you if I do. X

UPDATE:
Well there kind of isn't one.... and I guess that is the basis of this post...

The car hasn't seen much action this summer really. It has had a couple of spirited drives but that is about it. NO trackdays, despite having a voucher for Castle Combe, I just haven't used it... and it has made me think again about whether

I SHOULD SELL IT??

IMG_0274.JPG

It just isn't really getting used and I feel like that is quite a shame....
It isn't really costing me anything to keep, but I do wonder if it just would be better elsewhere now.

The couple of events I have been to with it, I am just not that enthused about, yes I like cars but that interest isn't as great as what it use to be....
Lots of thinking to do.

Would be a shame to put all that effort into it and sell.

But if your hearts not in it anymore, no point looking at it as it will eat you away slowly.

Might be worth more in parts also?

Before making a final decision, why don't you actually do a track day in it? If anything is going to reignite your enthusiasm, it should be that. If it doesn't, you have your answer.

I totally agree it would be a shame, and that is why it is a difficult decision and I am so unsure... I really need to figure out if my heart is in it or not.

Do you mean like the trackdays I have 'actually' done the past 2 years?

How much would something like this go for ?

I would not be 100% sure but I am aware that something very similar sold for £12k a couple of years ago.
I am also aware that this is built to a high standard with a lot of quality parts...

UPDATE:

The cars is also set to be insured in preparation for the MOT. I done a lot of research and found Reis Motorsport to be a good option.
This proved to be even better when I realised I could put our van on the insurance with them as a support vehicle too. Perfect.

The car will be fully covered with an agreed value set. I can change the spec throughout the year and not need to let Reis know too.
I have to send Reis a full spec of the vehicle which was interesting to sort as I have never written it up before, but this can be seen below:

It must have been difficult to bring a project like this to life. I imagine that in the early stages, it consumed much of your focus and energy. Now that it’s finished and ready for use, your mind is already shifting toward the next challenge or opportunity. Sometimes, creating them is more rewarding than managing them.

Great spec but not sure it's a £12k car. Not for me anyway but that's just my opinion and others will have their own. The things (again, in my opinion) that would put it up to that value would be.

PMS exhaust manifold
Gearbox with diff
Better coilovers (e.g AST)
Better brakes (Brembo/AP Racing).

Saying that, some people might value the overall condition of the car and the strip down/respray more than the actual spec of the car.

If it's not costing too much to keep it and roll it out for a couple of showings each year, then it might be more worthwhile carrying on doing that until the value of Clios increase even more, especially for a solid shell.

I totally agree that it is about opinions and I am open to discussion/debate on the price - as with most things, it is only worth what someone is willing to pay.

I think the items you list would indeed increase the value, and these items at 1 point were on my list to fit, but I am unsure if they mean that the car is not a £12k.
I say this for much the same reason you say about the full strip down/respray/rebuild of the car. I genuinely think anybody would be hard pushed to find a better track/potential race/rally car build with regards to attention to detail and ease to work on.

The car has some other significant spec items that for me aren't usually on other cars, the full custom loom, the heated screen, the ITB set-up.
I would probably also sell with the vehicle the spares package and a spare set of tyres.... but this would all come out in the negotiations of sell I guess
