Iceberg ph1 172

After a little bit of searching I found a decent ph1 172 and picked it up today.

Just ticked over 94k, iceberg silver with a decent service history, huge folder, original bill of sale, endless receipts for work carried out.

Mechanically the car is fantastic with most big jobs already carried out. New shocks with Cooksport springs, new clutch, Belts will need doing end of the year but only covered 12k since being done late part of 2020.

Few little niggles to sort, drivers window struggles to go back up, has had the regulator and switch change to no avail, need to look into this further. Going to give the internal silver plastics a fresh paint as they are looking tired now with lacquer peel. Drivers seat has the usual wear. Drivers headlight could do with another restoration or better still a new one.

No rust luckily, seals are good and the rear door cards removed and checked with pics but there are some marks here and there, bit of lacquer peel in a couple of places but not too bad for almost 24 years old.

Needs two centre caps, some slight marks on a couple of the wheels but wrapped in almost new ps3’s

Usual remote central locking problem but probably stick with the obd bypass.

Nice drive home and nice driving a revvy NA, different to the megane.

I’m very impulsive so who knows how long I’ll have this one 🤣

I drive a van daily and got the 300 trophy so not sure how much use it will get but it’s a fun little car to take for a little back road blast.

Would I get it fully resprayed, not sure I’d get my money back and if it was sitting on half the mileage would have been worth it

That last picture really shows off the blue tinge in the paint, lovely mate. I’d really like another to tinker with, be following this with interest!

Nice purchase. My second favourite Clio after a mk1. Looking forward to updates if you keep it. Do you have a GC8 also?

Took for a quick blast today, little bit of a drip coming from the light area on the roof lining. At some stage a non oem ariel has been fitted and bodged with some kind of sealant which wasn’t really doing much and seeping down a little hole. Ordered a replacement and will get fitted when it turns up

The door shuts you can really see the blue tinge, hidden from the sun for 24 years, I’m not sure if a decent machine polish would do much to the paint to bring it back to former glory. You can see the colour difference of the painted front bumper also
