Finally the nearside light was frustrating me. It was cloudy as heck. I purchased a cheap "wipe" kit on Amazon and had a go. Nothing to lose really!

Its only gone and worked!

The third brake light didnt work and looking at previous MOT hadnt for some time
I removed the cup spoiler via the 6 torx screws and then measured with the multimeter across the now disconnected connector - 12V.

Must be the light then. Fortunately I had pre-empted this and bought a new LCD strip. I ever so carefully removed the top light and went about changing over the LCD strip. Fairly straightfoward TBH but I took extreme car not to crack the plastic light. These are NLA and I have seen upwards of £100 for them on ebay. Sod that!

Some corrosion here but cleaned it up and it made absolutely zero difference

After. It didnt actually take me that long but I went out and forgot to get a pic!

Post paint I had to get some new decals.

I appear to have slightly nudged the number 2 when fitting but its nigh on identical to the other side. Both passed Renault QC I am sure ..

I bought some of those decals as back ups, managed to get two sets for the price of one from the seller which didn’t seem that bad.

Still waiting for Christian Pickering to finalise his reproductions so I can get a set of his too.

My wiper pump has stopped working.

First things first I’ll check the fuse. I have grabbed some Renault documentation and …

img_6444-webp.222448

The fuse box is located in the passenger compartment on the drivers side.

You what now?

Ah , it means on the passenger side end of dash!

Just been out and flicked a known working fuse over ( F3 with F7 ) and no joy. Must be a dead pump.

Next up on the to do list - clock / radio cluster.

The one I had was failing. The digits weren't working never mind the backlight.

Paul from Diamond-Performance donated a cluster to the cause and I purchased a pack of 10 bulbs. Of the first 6 , 4 did not fit too well. Awesome quality control there.

So, I took the dash apart and what a simple yet painful in terms of what you are trying to achieve job that is.

Dash back together

Sadly this picture highlights the soft to touch plastic thats now tacky and will be ace in summer to double up as a fly trap.

Lastly , is this a OE radio? I dont get any display on the cluster when powered on if it is ...

Rear wiper blade also changed ...

Today I went to see the Renault Oracle that is Paul from https://diamond-performance.co.uk/ to do a driveshaft swap and a gearbox fluid change

IMG_6528.JPG

First job was to drain the gearbox fluid. It did contain some sparkly treasure but as it settle to the bottom it doesnt exist. It also looks a bit weird.

IMG_6518.JPG

Paul did some magic with this

IMG_6517.JPG

to make a knackered one of these come out

IMG_6520.JPG

All of this was done on one of these.

IMG_6522.JPG

I so desperately need one of these ( lift , not cup. I have a cup already ! )

IMG_6526.JPG

I dont have any reassembly pictures but I can say that the driveshaft is now click free.

However with the cup that keeps on giving I have discovered a knackered rear exhaust mount. Ill get one ordered!

Huge thanks to Paul @ Diamond Performance.

Something isn’t right here. I think it’s the parrot getting in the way.

Known good Clio 172 54 plate cd / radio.

Can hear static. Beeps.

Nothing on the clock / temp though. Audio works via Bluetooth ( parrot )

I suspect the loom adapter has broken this part. The stalks appear to work.

You’ve got the wrong head unit there.

You have to replace update list / tuner list with like for like.

That radio is the wrong one but quite rare. You need a TunerList radio for anything pre 2004

Now, I normally take what @Krarl says with a pinch of salt but he was pretty specific I needed a pre 2004 tunerlist radio. I am pretty sure ( unless anyone can tell me otherwise ) that is a tunerlist pre 2004 radio?

It came from a Clio 172 ...

Unless he has a super duper rare 172 cup in gonna assume it's an 03 or 53 plate car which should be a TunerList head unit

The fact that the other radio was a non sticky finish tells me someone has been farting about before Andy has. Do you get any signs of life with the TunerList Andy?

My bad, didn’t read the comments above.

@Krarl might come across as a crayon munching special person but he knows his stuff when it comes to these.

That could be the parrot causing the issues, I’ve not tried one myself so unsure tbh.

It works! It beeps , I can hear the CD motor do its thing.
I just get static from the radio but I am ok from that but the bit I really wanted working is the display next to the clock temp - I get sod all from that.

It says to me there's an issue between the screen and the head unit

Usually plugging them in if it's the wrong one you'd get "ERROR" on the screen. I'm sure when someone put a Megane headunit in mine it came up with that

I noticed there was an adapter loom on the end of the Renault loom. I guess it would be pretty simple to remove that adapter and plug directly in. That should give me 1/2 an idea.

I didnt have time / light to do that tonight.
