ARP rod bolts upgrade

Hi Gents,
Thead revival, looking to replace and upgrade the oil pump on my 172 ph2 (my pump attached). No idea how the mesh filter got punctured.:unsure:
@Struggler could you confirm for me, mate:
The upgraded pump oem:
150108716R
The windage tray that works with it:

8200394655

The fitment mods required:
1. Manufacture the bracket as shown by @PerthRS - cheers, mighty helpful!
2. Grind down the sump as shown by @Struggler here

Did someone use sealant onto the block?! yikes.

Why you have posted looks correct, i cannot confirm the pump PN though as I just bought the kit from PMS with the little bracket thing included.

Windage tray you will 99% likely be fine if you have a ph2, which from the looks of your profile pic you do. It's only the early ph1s that are a bit of a parts bin special.

This tread hasn't aged well for me, there was in fact things wrong with the block and ended up need to pull the engine back out and rebuild it!

Sorry to hear about your engine, what went sour with the block?

Someone posted that OEM diesel pump number earlier in the thread. Wanted to confirm that's what is sold by PMS/Frogjam before I hit the "buy" button.

PS. Black rtv didn't surprise me at all, after seeing how the sump was glued with rtv, half the bolts missing, half rounded and how the oil pickup mesh torn apart 😐.

Stuck piston ring meant no compression. That and some cylinder wall corrosion over aforementioned 13 years without running meant rebore and oversized pistons.

back and almost running again now!

at least you caught the oil pump before anything serious happened! I've heard some horror stories about RTV and these engines.

I've found frogjam very responsive, im sure if you drop them a message they will confirm the part number.

Ill drop them a message, hope theyd cooperate.

It's not the RTV or the engine, it's the ape prev owners..

Fingers crossed for you are back on the road soon🤞
So am I🤞🤞

The part number you posted above (150108716R) is 100% correct for the 'upgraded' dci pump.

The photo below is from the box I got from PMS last year.

Yeah you should be fine with the windage try. I spoke to PMS before I trimmed mine as was cautious I had the wrong part but they confirmed it seems to be a lottery with them, in particular the Ph1's
Easy enough to trim though if it is needed.
I was the same as struggler and just bought the PMS kit with the small bracket included for easiness

Bracket OpenScad, based on the shared images, you can turn this into STL or STEP file:

// Automotive Bracket (Updated Dimensions)
// All dimensions in millimeters
$fn = 100; // High resolution for smooth curves

// --- MEASUREMENTS ---
base_w = 18.0;
base_l = 30.0;
base_h = 3.0;

cutout_w = 10.0;
cutout_d = 7.0;

prong_w = 12.0;
prong_t = 6.0;
prong_h = 30.0;
prong_offset_right = 2.0;

// --- DERIVED OFFSETS ---
// Prong left offset: 18 - 12 - 2 = 4mm
prong_offset_left = base_w - prong_w - prong_offset_right;
// Cutout left offset (centered): (18 - 10) / 2 = 4mm
cutout_offset_left = (base_w - cutout_w) / 2;

// --- MODEL ---
union() {
// 1. Base Plate
difference() {
// Main base body
cube([base_w, base_l, base_h]);

// U-shaped cutout (front edge)
// Consists of a box and a cylinder to create the rounded back
union() {
// Rectangular lead-in for the slot
translate([cutout_offset_left, -1, -1])
cube([cutout_w, cutout_d - (cutout_w / 2) + 1, base_h + 2]);

// Semi-circular back of the slot
translate([cutout_offset_left + (cutout_w / 2), cutout_d - (cutout_w / 2), -1])
cylinder(h = base_h + 2, d = cutout_w);
}
}

// 2. Vertical Prong
// Positioned at the back edge (base_l - prong_t) and offset from the left
translate([prong_offset_left, base_l - prong_t, base_h]) {
cube([prong_w, prong_t, prong_h]);
}
}

Scrap the above, couldn't edit it.
The correct code and render.
