I have a Ph2 172 where the rear seat belts have gone off in an accident (but nothing else)
Do the rear seat belt units come as a complete unit with the PT, or are the PT units available separately?
Also, what other models have rear seat belts with pretentioners? Are there any? and if so...
Is okay now - SWMBO came home from a shopping trip in London and found the key in the third from bottom stackable Ikea cereal bowl in the kitchen cupboard. Must be magic bowls!!
For future reference, if any of you guys (or girls) lose anything, PM me and I'll have a look in that bowl for you...:D
What's a "uch"?
I can't even get a replacement key off Renault (£150) because the car is a cat C which is mid repair (with all the parts locked inside it); and the dealer won't order me a key unless I show them the v5, which I can't get until the car has been repaired and VIC tested.
B0ll0cks!
Okay, so idiot here has lost THE ONLY key I have for my 172...
Firstly, how can I get into the car to check the key is not in the boot?
Secondly (assuming the key is not there, which Idon't think it is), how easy is it to replace it? I mean can I get a key, barrel and locks froma scrappy, or...
on taking my inlet manifold off and matching it to the inlets on the cylinder head (using the gasket as a template) I found that the face of the manifold where it meets the cylinder head needed about 3-4mm taken off around almost its entire circumference to match the inlets inthe cylinder head...
Ok, so I have the inlet manifolds off and the engine mounts out - I'm changing the cambelt and rollers and porting the inlet manifolds.
Also changing a split driveshaft gaiter.
Anything else I should (could) do while I've got the car this far apart??;)
as above, it's a dead easy job, even for a complete chod.
Just don't take the old one off til you get the new one, then fit the new one exactly where the old one was, and the same way round!!!
Update - the threaded rod I was poking into the TDC locking hole was too fat and was missing the slot in the crank.
Managed to lock it at TDC and the cams are both almost a half turn out of sync!!
Worried now about valve damage, although there was no rattling when I first got the car and tried...
okie dokie, thanks, I was thinking that too - I could appreciate how the timing belt could have slipped, but not how the cylinder could be out of sync with the TDC locking notch.
Maybe the threaded rod I was sticking in the hole was too fat as well...:rasp:
