So here's mine. The hose the breather filter is on seems to be an idle hose on my engine (mainly because it goes up to a stepper motor/IAC valve) and I think the hose should go into the main intake like standard. Unfortunately I've butchered my old setup to stick the filter on that hose, so I...
It's not a remap as such, but yes, Renault will update software to a later version, in an effort to iron out jumpyness and other problems such as those that OP is having. If the car has been alright for 30k, it probably just needs a service, how much does the update cost?
Try the spark plugs first, in fact just get it serviced if it hasn't been done recently. As for how often it should be done, depends on how you drive it, I tend to get a service a bit more often than prescribed by manufacturer.
If anyone has a pic of their JMS on a Ph1 (Ph2's you're also welcome), preferably one where we can see what you've done with the breather filter, I would be much obliged if you could post it. I'm pretty sure that the hose I've put the breather on is some kind of idle air feed and should be...
I fitted my JMS kit today (thanks _Nero_ ;)) and I quite like it although, I can't really tell if it's making any more power now. I feel that it's giving me smoother delivery, possibly masking gains that may have otherwise been perceived. Throttle response is improved and the sound is similar to...
I think a few of us need to research how a differential works! :rasp: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Differential_(mechanical_device)
How do YOU engine brake? ;)
I don't quite 'get' that kit, but I'm not familiar with the 1.2's. The kit looks a bit tacky IMO, especially when putting it up to the standard pipework. I think a kit like this would look and probably sound better for you.
Re: Possible new splitter found!!
Completely true and valid. I would then speculate that such an effect as I described would be amplified in a car with a 'nose down' stance (which IMO a lot of Clios have) and nullified vice-versa. There are so many variables to consider and I'm not an...
Re: Possible new splitter found!!
It will cut out some of the air that would normally go straight under the car, reducing the air pressure under the car and 'sucking' it down on to the road, at speed. It will provide a little extra stability and grip at cost of a bit more drag, because that...
If you didn't use spigot rings to fit to the Civic ie. if they were the right bore for it, they won't fit the Clio. If you used spigot rings on the Civic, there's a chance they'll fit the Clio with thinner/no spigot rings.
Nobody else even mentioned it so good on ya! :rasp:
Should surely leave it after running before checking it again though, otherwise too much will be put in...
Sounds to me like I should try the Eibach Pro springs and see where they take me... I guess there's no harm in saving a bit of money for other things while I try them out.
It looks like the FK's are going to get sold but I'll be keeping my eyes open until I have something new to play with.
As I post there are FK Konigsports with adj. damping and AST top mounts sitting in for sale and I'm tempted. I heard they were a hard ride but with the adj. damping they can't be too bad.
Well thanks for all the posts so far. I have been lurking for some time reading through various threads for a vague idea, that was one thread that I have seen. Personally, for that kind of money I'd rather just get some quality springs like the Eibach Pro's (rather than Sportlines). Although the...
Looking for some suspension advice and opinions on my Clio.
I got the car 4 months ago with Apex ~40mm springs on it and I'm finally getting a bit sick of how hard it is and think I could get some extra comfort and grip from a change.
I'll begin with what I am/am not interested in:
I am...
Lowering by 60mm, if those kits will even achieve that kind of drop, is in my opinion a huge drop for standard shocks and I think you could/will end up damaging something.
I have 35~40mm springs on my 172 and I think it's not helped my drivetrain. It's also a very hard ride and I don't think...
Well I'd personally like my pedal a bit harder than it is, saying that I've had no trouble with fade or lack of performance. Not a cup either - phase 1.
There's some kind of procedure you could try for setting your clearances, I think you put the handbrake on quite hard and pump the pedal, or...
Could try another dealer, or ring your local and ask what your settings should be. Even better, ring two dealers and make sure your local knows what it is supposed to be!
Could well be a bent wheel, on one of the pool cars at work there is a bent wheel, you can't see it until you put a tracking jig on it which subsequently doesn't fit. It produces some shaking/wobbling when driving at high speed (somewhere between 60~100 mph shall we say) and a shake when braking...
Has this been ruled out? Reasonable suggestion IMO.
And what does this mean? 'the percentage of speed shows 136% instead of 100% or less'
Engine speed (I assume) or vehicle speed and 136% of what?
If the ecu is reading the engine speed at 136% of the actual value, it'll be hitting redline...
Previous owner said she had Spax fitted at 35mm drop/corner, which I think are a similar kind of product. They are quite harsh imo, they seem good enough for a blast on most roads, potholes still make me cringe.
They make me slow right down for speed bumps as the car really seems to milk it. It...
'51 plate, phase 1, 172. With rear bumper, lights, wheels and I was told front brakes -- all from phase 2.
Rare looking car imho. (Apart from being a silver Clio lol)
