That's a good shout with the van for the roof liner, all the pov spec non sunroof cars I looked at had 3 seatbelts in the back with the middle 1 bolted to the roof so have the extra holes for the bolts in them which the Cup doesn't have
I think you might be getting mixed up with the 182 Cup/Trophy interior as they used seats/cloth pattern from lower spec Clio's
AFAIK the interior on the 172 Cup is exclusive to just them - the roof liner certainly is - and I've looked at a lot of cars in scrapyards to see if anything lower spec...
You've made sure it's not a fluid problem so next to do is a strip down, clean & regrease of all the calipers, the rear sliders do like to seize up for fun so that's the most likely cause of the discs being like they are
I think there's quite a bit of variation in comfort on them. I only say that as my only experiences of Trendlines were in my Accord Type R, I liked them a lot, but quite a few people said to me they were shocked that they felt much more comfy & more supportive than the ones that were in the 182...
I can say for certain that they're deffo not from a Mk4 Astra GSi.
I've read that the Mk5 Astra 888 had Trendlines as an optional extra but they're part leather with the 888 logo in them and the suede insert in various colours that matched the car.
There's another Mk4 Astra that has some similar...
Sounds like it's just the tyres causing it tbh, proper semi slicks are actually wider & slightly different shape to the same size road tyres so they tend to exaggerate the shitty road imperfections and camber a lot more
As for the brakes, RC6's are phenomenal, don't waste time or money on fancy...
A big obvious difference is the back seats, there is only 2 seatbelts in a 172 Cup, all other Mk2 Clio's have 3 seatbelts with the middle 1 being attached at the roof
In the past, the problem with those has been that the bearings are usually cheap s**t that don't last at all and was cheaper in the long run to just buy genuine Renault items, just not sure if the same logic can be applied now that Renault items are even more expensive
Need to be careful with...
Put the Cup to work to get fresh tyres in 185 55 15 fitted to the fresh wheels, gone for Avon ZV7 as I have them on the Cup and they're good but more importantly available in the correct size
The engine has been built & sat on the stand since 2016 it was due a cambelt on age 🫣 so chucked a...
2020 Lockdown kicked in & having to work through all of it  meant that my Lockdown Project ended up being just a refurbishment of the rear axle
Absolute massive b*****d of a cnut job to strip apart, getting it cherry red hot with the oxy and 2 of us swinging like fcuk with a slide...
Another selection of new genuine Renault parts
Some before & after of the wheels
I know I said I got some bargain rear discs earlier but I had to nick them for the 172 Cup so bought some more from RPD
Sat at work with Dialogys & ebay opened is how I spend my work time, find obscure part in some random as f**k country, click on "see sellers other items" and fall into a rabbit hole of the 800 other Renault items they've got listed 🤩
2018 is when all this lot happened
Before & after of the rusty back arch
The doors needed a fair amount of fettling including damage done by an attempted break in on the drivers door
Photos of some of the new & rare parts I've managed to find from abroad
Actually bought these gaskets from a guy in a van in a field at the Nurburgring whilst the Oldtimers GP was on in 2017
I also managed to get a brand new Genuine Renault splitter for the front bumper from the same guy at...
Had the engine soda blasted then painted before being sent off for rebuilding
Managed to get my hands on an actual brand new & unused cylinder head that had been sat on a shelf for about 20 years, had it refreshed anyway, valves relapped & new stem seals
Fast forward to 2017, after many blown engines & gearboxes on the other cars, I had access to a unit where I could start to properly work on the car
Loaded up ready to be rebuilt & made to look pretty
I've paid for access to this section of the forum so might as well use it, especially since a few other Williams projects have started to appear on here recently.
At the end of 2013 I went to see a guy about buying some roof trims for my Valver, ended up buying the trims and a Williams while I...
