I portmatched my intake. Don't expect anything from it really, but it's just something I've been wanting to do.
I also gave the intake a fresh lick of paint, and then sanded back the Renault Sport logo.
Little progress is also progress :p
I took out the big engine mount, savind another 2,2 kg's.
This was the last item of the weight saving programm, in total I removed around 12 kg's in the front of the car, which is quite a big number, but is also good for the weight distribution, since it...

Are these cams usefull for someone? Any info on the specs? Can they be used on a 'standard' engine, or only on full race spec/modified engine? @NorthloopCup ?
Can you tell me the total length of the intake, as I'm pretty sure I will have this issue as well, just haven't got the engine in right now so it's a bit of a guess.
8 seconds difference over a 2 minute lap is a huge difference, especially if the cars are basically the same.
Very interested to see if you can close this gap. 👍
Definately not a big exhaust port head than what I've got. Hmm, strange. Unless phase 1's also had the smaller ports, mine's had a head or an engine change at some point.
This evening I finally had some spare time to box in the ears for the new engine mounts. I boxed them in front and rear, with angled steel plate that goes underneath the subframe, so that the forces go around the subframe, instead of just pulling on the welds of the ears.
Thanks. 👍
And if you could measure the ports that would be much appreciated. It's just that the gasket is a lot bigger and the ports don't seem that big to me. But unless the car had a cylinderhead change or even a full engine change in the past it must be the bigport head as I have an early...
So, as I've become a father a couple of weeks ago, time in the garage has become very scarce. So what do you do, you order some parts.
I ordered some heatwrap to wrap the manifold, in an attempt to get the under bonnet temperatures a bit lower.
I ordered a new clutch, as now seems...
Took the engine out to do some maintenance, mainly the cambelt, and swapping the gearbox. While I'm at it, I also want to change the clutch, possibly lighten the flywheel a bit, and fix som oil leaks I've been having for some time. The main one should be the gearbox side crankshaft seal, I will...
I can't comment on both the Clio setups, but I did own a mildly tuned (160 hp) Polo G40 a long time ago, and engine wise it just felt like there was a bigger engine in there, zero lag.
I now have a Golf 7 GTI, and while it's more than 20 years more developed, lag is still present, and dosage of...
Great posting, I guess the weight numbers will be mentioned in one of the next posts right? A carbon roof is just what I need, except my wallet/wife thinks otherwise. 🤣
